Winter and Moon had been searching for almost a year now. Winter was up high on the mountain poking around. He peered into a cave and saw to his amazement, his eggs. He wanted desperately to run in and snatch them but a guard loomed over them. Winter also saw several hybrids walking around.
"Why do we have to stay here?" a red dragonet with gills asked.
"Because the king is the only one who will accept you. Now get back to work!" He bellowed at the small dragonet.
Winter quickly flew back to where he left Moon.
"Moon." He said when he found her. "Eggs... hybrids... kings... force... work." Moon was utterly confused.
"Okay. Take a deep breath and tell me what you saw." She said to Winter. Winter took a deep breath and quickly explained what he had seen on the mountain top.
It was night before winter and Moon made their move. The guard was snoring in front of the nest. They quickly came and snatched the eggs but before they could take flight a large bloody dragon blocked their path. It was throat slitter. But he looked different. His scales were green, Blood poured from wounds that seemed endless and his eyes told stories of insanity.
"But that's impossible." said winter backing up. "You're dead." throat slitter laughed.
"I am dead." he said and lunged at moon who was holding the eggs. Moon shrieked and tossed the eggs to winter. The large monster knocked moon out and crept over to Winter.
"Those eggs are mine." He said. "Give them back like a good little dragonet."
"NEVER!!!" Winter said as he set down the eggs behind him and lunged at throat slitter. They sliced at each other grappling on the ground. Throat slitter backed Winter up against the wall.
"Why would you fight? You would never win." He said to him. Just then there was a small tapping sound and two beautiful female dragonets emerged from two of the eggs. One was a sandy yellow with black and white speckles in between her scales. The other was black as night with the body of an icewing.
Them. He was fighting for his children. And his children's children. He couldn't lose. Not with them counting on him. Winter pushed the evil throat slitter up against the opposite wall and hacked him to pieces. Then he scoped up Moon, the dragonets and the egg and took off into the night.
