Nadine's POV

I remember a set of headlights followed by the sounds of metal scraping and crushing. Glass flew all over the place as my world spun around me. The crash lasted for approximately 45 seconds according to witnesses, however it felt as though it lasted for hours to me.
A drunk driver had chosen to run a red light as I was driving through an intersection. I was on my way home from one of my Dungeons and Dragons game. I had work the next morning and didn't want to get home late.

I woke up in a hospital bed. I felt weird as my mind tried to wrap itself around the last thing I could remember. I heard the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor as I tried to shift my hand to find a call button of sorts. I could feel my fingers twitch but my arm didn't move. I tried to move my leg and while I could feel my feet, my legs refused to respond to my commands. The room felt hazy and my eyelids felt as if they weight a ton the more I fought to stay awake.

I woke up to flowers left in my room, my only friends was my D&D group and I don't think they were the flowers type. And someone would of left a card or a note on who left the flowers, but the kind action so far has been anonymous. The casts on my arms and legs were reduced in size finally. I can bend my knees and elbows, though with difficultly and pain. Speaking of my D&D group, they've paid me a visit with oodles of care packages.
A portable dvd player and a big box full of vampire movies. I was always facinated by vampires and the lore surrounding them, I collected every vampire movie I could get my hands on. But I was always a big fan of bing watching my top favorite series, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. I manage to fumble with the disk case of the first disk and pop it into the dvd player. Cue theme music as I lay back trying to relax and take my mind off my shitty situation.

I finally found who was leaving my flowers as I was bringing my show. A male nurse named, Brent Brugger, took claim for leaving the flowers. I feel as if he wasn't being honest but he seemed like the kind of guy who'd leave flowers for someone. He found sympathy in me because I had no other family that came to visit.
"So you are a 'Buffy' fan?" He asked when he came in with an evening snack.
I gave him a smile as I pause the episode I was watching. "It helped me through middle school. I often wish that sometimes I was in that world, to be a vampire. I wouldn't have dibilitaing migraines and I'd be able to never have to worry about injuries." I said as I held up one of my arms in it's cast.
He let out a chuckle at me as he picked through the box of my movies. "You really seem into the vampire thing?" He'd find a binder and looked in my direction. "May I look?"
I gave a nod and a shrug. "I used vampires as one of my high school projects. I gathered all sorts of lore across all the various movies and pieced together what a 'true lore' should be." I said dorkishly. "I know, I'm a bit of a nerd. But that and D&D is what interests me."
Brent looked at me as a smirk drew across his face. "As in Dungeons and Dragons?" He asked with curiosity.
I have him a nod before I spoke, but in a different language to him. "Vedui', amin naa Lumetta en' Jalore." I blushed but something about the guy made me feel comfortable. I felt as if a missing piece of myself was no longer missing.
"Lumetta of Jalore? Interesting, Miss Lumetta, Vedui', y' seasa oment- lle, Amin naa Taurn Aran Makale, en' Ansalon." He'd reply back to me and I blushed even more at our instant nerdy connection.
