Finding Normalcy

I carried a glass of blood with me to my room and sipped at it as I do what I could to make myself presentable to be out in public. I finished getting ready and started heading down stairs to be greeted with more people who were casually hanging out downstairs. I was mid sip when I felt several pairs of eyes lock onto me. I slowly pulled the glass from my lips, in a way to make sure I didn't spill any of it's contents as I did so, and headed toward the kitchen with my head down to avoid conversations or questions.

"Don't mind them, we don't normally get a full house, young one." Master Liam said as he took a seat at the kitchen counter. "In the next week we will prepping for a solar eclipse. I don't want you to feel the need to prepare breakfast as you have been."

"What is it going to do?" I asked curiously as I pulled my hair up fixing it into a tight bun on my head.

"It strengthens the effects of the moon. Magic is a finicky thing and while a new moon wouldn't have much of an effect on us, during an eclipse it does whatever it does and we lose the ability to control our inner wolf." He explained me as if he was his normal calm and collected self.

I gave a shrug as Issac came from down stairs wearing a leather jacket, dark jeans, and a white shirt underneath the jacket. He was twirling a set of keys in his hand and motioned to the door. "Well come on. I don't know how long this shopping thing is going to take. You girls are always so different from each other."

I gave a smirk as I zipped over to him and snatched the keys from his hand before zipping to the door. "I'll drive, that way you know I won't jump out in the middle of traffic."

Issac let out a long sigh as if he was terrified of the idea of me driving. I hadn't driven since I became a vampire but it's like riding a bike, once you learn you never forget, or I think that's what people say.

"I want to watch this train wreck" Thomas said from where he was sitting on the couch and got up to follow us outside. I rolled my eyes as I opened the door and headed outside.

I climbed into the driver's side of the SUV, I was greeted by the large Toyota logo on the steering wheel. I started adjusting all the usual settings such as mirrors, steering wheel and moving the seat forward so I can reach the pedals. While I am five foot eight, I was that kind of person that would drive like an old lady with the seat really close to the wheel. I was always told how dangerous it was to drive like that, but now that I am a vampire, not like it'd kill me now.

I looked over to the passenger door as Issac finally hopped into the vehicle reluctantly. He buckled himself in his seat and took a firm grip on the handle bar above his seat. In cars like this, it's usually there for helping people get into the car, however I regularly made jokes that it was the 'Oh Shit Bar', because I was not the most gentle driver sometimes.

Thomas hopped into the backseat and opted to not buckle up. I looked behind me to see out the back window before I started the vehicle, shifted it into reverse and slammed down on the gas. Just as the back end of the SUV made it to the end of the driveway I quickly turned the steering wheel and caused it to whip out onto the road. I then causally shifted it into drive before looking at the two guys who were with me.

I heard the sound of Thomas scrambling in the backseat and buckling up and Issac was silent. I could see he was no holding onto anything in his reach and had a look of fear in his eyes.

"Ok guys, where to?" I asked with a casual smile before putting the vehicle into drive.

Issac finally resumed breathing before turning his head at me. "Before we keep going, you will survive just about any form of a car accident you cause. Thomas and I, however, are relatively more human than you and it doesn't take much to kill us. Please keep that in mind as you drive, ok?"
