Polar Opposites

Nicole is his tutor, Harry is her student. She's valedictorian, he's the hockey team captain. She's helping him graduate, while he's teaching her to have fun, and enjoy being a senior in high school. Life sucks, and so does first love. Nicole learns both of these things, as Harry becomes the oil to her water.
"So, tell me why your here." The middle aged shrink stares at me blankly, holding her click board sternly and twisting the cap of her pen. Her blond hair is tightly held with an elastic, and her glasses sit on the bridge of her nose.
I stare at my legs, noticing the bagging of my jeans, a pair that used to fit so snug. I pick at a hangnail on my thumb, ignoring it as it begins to bleed, unable to really feel the pain.
I hear her clear her throat, snapping me from the concentration on my throbbing thumb.
"Did you say something?" She shifts in her chair, concern obvious in her eyes.
"What brings you to therapy." Her question leaves me silent, as I'm not quite sure what exact reason brings me here today. Things fell down hill, in an out of control spiral.
"I fell in love." She keeps her gaze on me, as I feel one tear fall from my eye.
"Can you elaborate?" I know what she's thinking. How does falling in love cause so much damage? Is one person capable to bringing so much joy yet so much destruction to a person?
"His name is Harry, Harry Styles." She sits back in her chair, signaling me to continue.
*Before*
I jump awake to the sound of my alarm. I roll over, slamming down on the clock, dreading having to start another week, never feeling I get enough sleep.
I sit up, grabbing my glasses off my side table and throwing my blanked aside.
I shiver, feeling the cold floor against my toes, still not persuading me to ever wear socks to bed. I quickly grab my clothes for the day, knowing Niall will be up any minute racing for the bathroom.I open my door, and see the coast is clear, just as my hand hits the bathroom door, I hear Niall's door open, I meet his eyes and both go wide. "Nicole don't you dare! I need to piss! Nicole!" He slams on the locked door with his fist, giving me a sense of satisfaction as I've beaten him once again.
I look in the mirror, noticing the dark circles under my pale skin. My hairs a mess, as brown curls fall loose from my messy bun. I sign, yanking the hair tie from the top of my head. I quickly brush it through, braiding it messily to stay from my face. I pull my skinny jeans on noticing they get more and more tug with each time I put them on.
I slide my ugg boots on, and a college sweatshirt, my first time wearing it after touring the school this past week. Senior year is almost half way over, but my college plans have been made since my freshman year.I've already accepted and put down my deposit for Boston College, saying no to the other 11 schools I was accepted to. I'm valedictorian, something I've worked incredibly hard for since I could remember. School is something I take very seriously, spending many nights with my nose in a book and my fingers typing away on a key board.
Niall continues to bang on the door, causing more annoyance. "Niall the more you bang the longer I'm going to take! Go pee outside!" He's done it plenty of times before, I don't understand the difference now.
Niall is my twin brother, something I don't share often, and it's easy to play off at school. My hair is a dark brown, with loose curls. My eyes match my hair, as they are a dark brown with black long lashes.
Niall's hair is dirty blonde with ice blue eyes. He's older, but only by an hour. He's skinny, athletic, and popular, while I'm curvy, lazy, and only care for school, the only thing bringing me attention is being valedictorian. I have my passions, he has his. He lives for hockey, while I wear my mathlete jacket with pride.
I hear Niall scream to my mother, knowing I will be loosing soon. I open the door, with my toothbrush in my mouth and my sweater up to my sports bra, as I spread deodorant on quickly.
"Can you become any more annoying?! God, always having to go tell mom, what are you 5?!" I mumble, still holding the toothbrush on the side of my mouth. He pushes me aside, pulling the front of his boxers down to pee, I yelp, thankfully I look away in time.
"Your just jealous she likes me more." He rolls his eyes, flushing the toilet and not bothering to wash his hands. I nearly vomit, knowing he'll be eating breakfast any minute with no care in the world.
He's moms favorite, and he knows it.
As soon as I place my toothbrush down, he pushes me aside. I push him, grabbing one of my headbands on the sink before going back to my room.
I finish grabbing my books and shutting off all my lights, before giving myself a final look in the mirror. I look the same I always do, barely bringing any attention as I'm nothing special to look at. I throw the elastic gray headband on my head, making sure it doesn't overlap my glasses.
"I need the car today" Niall adds as I step on the first step. I stop, turning toward him ready to start a fight, but my mother cuts me off.
"Nicole, I don't want to hear it, take the bus!" I roll my eyes, grabbing an apple and granola bar before going out the door, annoyingly dropping the keys to "me and Niall's" car, that's more his than mine.
My mom ignores me, as she slips on heels and talks to into her Bluetooth. He blonde hair falls to her shoulders, and her pencil skirt hugs her legs. I roll my eyes, slamming the front door behind me.
Stepping outside brings a cool breeze, hinting at the departure of fall. I pull my school bag straps close, and head down the street to Louis' house.
