Ponyboy's pov;;
I woke up in a strange place. I looked around trying to remember where I was.

Memories of last night came back. Johnny and I got kicked out, and now we're running away.

"Johnny?" I called out.

"Upstairs!" He yelled.

I walked upstairs and he was looking at a painting on the wall. It was of a few wolves in a snowy forest.

I walked up to him and hugged him from behind and rested my chin on his shoulder. "Goodmorning."

He yawned. "Morning, Pone."

"Do you," I sighed, "do you think that Darry'll miss us if we don't go home?"

He looked down, "I don't know, Ponyboy. I also don't know why people can't just be accepting. It's not like we had a choice."

I nodded, but stayed quiet.

"Wanna go eat?" Johnny asked.

I, again, nodded and remained silent. Not for any reason, but I just didn't feel like talking.

We got downstairs and Johnny made some eggs that he bought early this morning before I woke up.

"Thanks, Johnnycake." I mumbled when he handed me some on an old plate from one of the cupboards.

"You alright?" He asked.

"Yeah," I said, "where are we going after this?"

He looked at his plate. "Uh, we could go to Steve's house since he accepted us. He even thought we were together before we even were."

I laughed. "Yeah, they were betting money."

"We could also just stay here if you wanted. The bed was comfy and it's abandoned so no one would care. Plus no one knows we're here."

I thought about it for a while. "Yeah, okay let's just stay here. I'll sneak into my and Soda's room later and get money from a box I hid."

He nodded and we continued to eat.

°°°
I slowly walked towards my house, scared that Darry might see me, and he's probably still mad at me.

When I reached my house, I walked over to the living room window to see who was there.

Luckily, only Soda was there, if it was Darry's day off, he would've been in the arm chair reading the newspaper.

I walked over to the front door, hesitantly walking in.

"Hello?" Soda called.

"S-Soda?" I asked.

"O-Oh my god!" Soda ran towards me. "Where were you?"

"I....I can't say. I'm sorry. I just...I'm not staying here, I can't. Darry hates me, and I don't feel like having him ignore me, or call me bad names." I looked down.

"Pone, Darry doesn't hate you. He feels bad about what happened. I do too, mainly because he's your brother and should've accepted you right away. I also feel bad because of the fact that I literally shoved him against a wall, but he deserved it." He laughed.

I chuckled but then went back to being upset. "No...he probably still hates me. He might be a little worried about me, but I know that he doesn't really accept me. I'll come back every once in awhile to see you okay?"

He thought about it. "Can you at least show me where you are so I can visit you?"

I smiled a little and whispered: "...okay."
