Altered~ A Time Out...What a blast!!

After my last class I head to the front of the school to wait for Sam. As I push open the double doors there goes Sam waiting in his car, just liked he promised.

"Hey Penelope! Hop in, I'm starving!!" he shouts. I pull open the door and sit on the black leather seat. I pull out my sunglasses from my bag and slide them up my nose.

"Well who looks sophisticated with their sunglasses." he says as we pull out of the parking lot.

"Just shut up and drive." I playfully said to him.

"Yes ma'm!" he salutes me. I giggle and let my thoughts wonder back to Hayden. I can't wait til tomorrow to see him in Chemistry; I'd never thought that I would be so desperate to go to Chemistry. I stare out the window and look at the trees; thinking how here in Pennsylvania isn't that bad! Then the radio busted my favorite song; Marry You by Bruno Mars. I can't help but sing to it

"Whoa!! I think I wanna marry you!!! You sound amazing! Are you some singer incognito or something?" Sam exclaims that he makes me jump.

"Oh please, I can't sing even if my life depended on it." I say.

"Uh huh, I'm not believing that BS but when I say something it's true and I rarely give compliments."

"Alright." I say still not convinced. A few minutes later we turn into what seems to be the diner Sam was talking about. He was right; I immediately recognise students at the high school. We hop out and head into the diner. It has this 1970's look to it. A juice box in the corner blasting music. I instantly love this place. We sit at a booth near the juice box and a waitress with a name tag with Sarah written on it.

"How may I help you?" she says

"Hey Sarah, this is Penelope. She's just moved here." Sam says.

"Hello." I simply say.

"Hey there darling it's nice to see Sam mingling." She blurts. I laugh from the look in Sam's eyes as if I wasn't supposed to know that.

"I'll have the usual with a coke." Sam says in a dull voice. Sarah looks at me with her pen ready.

"Um, I'll have the same, but with a Root Beer. Thanks" I say. She scribbles the order and walks away.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom." Sam says. He rises and leaves. I get up too but head to the juice box. I take out a quarter and slide it into the slot. I randomly pick a song. "Payphone" by Maroon 5 comes on. The bell to the door rings as I take a seat. Someones come in.

"I love this song!" the person says. I smile to myself, someone enjoys the selection too. The drinks are at the table already and I take a sip from my Root Beer. Someone slides into the seat across from me. To my surprise it's Hayden.

My jaw drops, completely surprised that he's here.

"Hey!! Fancy seeing you here. I see you've made it to the hot spot." he smiles and I become numb.

"Yea, Sam invited me." I say.

"Well I'm happy you've made a friend. Actually two if you count me." he says still smiling. He wan'ts to be my friend? I'm happy but a little down.

"Yea you count. As long as you consider me your friend." I tease him.

"Definitely do!" he sings. Sam finally comes out of the bathroom.

"Oh hey Hayden." he says returning to himself.

"Hey Sam. I see you made friends with Penelope." he says.

"Yea. Do you mind if I have my seat back?" he asks nicely.

"Oh sorry. Here." Hayden says as he gets up from the seat.

"Well see ya both tomorrow." he says to us. He walks to join his friends table a few booths ahead of us. I can see him perfectly clear and he can too.

"I'm gone for a few minutes and you ditch me for Hayden?" He kids trying to act sad.

"No, of course not he just came over to say hi. That's all."

"Yea whatever. Let's eat!" as Sarah places our plates down. I began to eat. But every time I try to catch a sneak peek to Hayden I find him staring back at me. Those moonlight eyes becoming more beautiful and knowing as ever.
