Mystery Unknown

THE SAVIOR

      Jasmine woke up to the beeping sound of machines. She opens her eyes and turns her face to her left and sees a machine beeping she then realizes that she was in the hospital.

      She tries to jump out of the bed when she is held back with strong hands, "Take it easy, Jas" the voice said.

      She knew that voice, she turns and sees it was Austin. When she finally relaxed he removed his hand from her and sits forward.

      "How did you get here?" Jasmine asked quite surprised she was alive.

      "Well, I saw you, well actually I was there when you fell into the river under the bridge so I jumped in and saved you." He said looking at her.

      "No wonder you are wet" she commented on his clothing. Austin looks down to his clothing and puts on a playful grin. "Yea". Then he looks back at her.

      "Where is Gabriella?" Jasmine asked. Her best friend was there when they needed each other.

      Its either Austin didn't hear her or have was avoiding her question because he changed the topic.

      "I heard about..." he trails off then cleared his throat "... Your mother" he concluded sadly bowing his head.

      Jasmine's mood changed immediately remembering the death of her mother. "Yea, things happen for a reason, right?" Jasmine asked forcing a smile.

      "By the way where is Gabriella?" Jasmine made sure her voice was loud enough to be heard.

     "Oh, I haven't called her yet."

      Austin searches for his phone to call Gabriella. Jasmine placed her hand on his. "Don't worry I will talk to her when I get back to school." Jasmine said looking at Austin.

      Austin looked down and sees that their hands were still in contact. He clears his throat making Jasmine realize what she was doing. She removes her hand "Sorry" she muttered, Austin nods.

      "In that case..." Austin said getting up "...I better get out of these" he said pointing to his clothes.

      He holds the doorknob when he is stopped by Jasmine's voice. "Austin... Thank you" Jasmine said to him.

      "Your welcome" he replied with a smile and left his room closing the door behind him gently.

      When Jasmine was discharged from the hospital few days later, Austin was there to pick her up. He dropped her home and left, after asking her whether she could manage alone.

      Jasmine entered the house to see her mom's picture hanged up on the wall. Jasmine turned her face away from the picture. She needed to forget everything and fast. Memories were bringing her down.
