Jasmine headed to the hallway leading to the science lab when she sees Austin in his locker. She increases her pace in order to catch up with him. As he turns to walk away, Jasmine comes in front of him.
"Hey Austin", she greets looking at him.
"What do you want Jasmine", Austin asked caring less about the conversation.
"I want you to believe me".
Austin stopped what he was doing and finally turned to look at her. " You want me, Austin, to believe you, Jasmine? "
"Yea", she replied
"Do you believe me?" Austin asked
"Come on, don't ask me that question that's not what am talking about", Jasmine complained
Austin talks a minute of silence looking at her as if trying to read her. "Okay", he started combing his hair with his hands. "Talk".
Jasmine narrated everything that happened to her, from the journey to the portal then the giants all in whispers.
"Okay", Austin answered plainly
"Okay? That's all you have to say?", she asked surprised by his reaction.
"What else do you want me to say?"
"Do you believe me?"
Before Austin could answer the bell rang. "Excuse me Jas, I need to get to class". Austin told her turning to leave when Jasmine grabs him by the arm and turns him around.
"You don't believe me" it came out more of a statement than a question.
"Believe me, Jasmine..." he pauses as if considering what he is about to say "...I believe you, but we will discuss this when we get back from class".
"We?" Jasmine asked confused
"You didn't forget we need to get to class right?" He asked raising a brow.
"Oh no, no I didn't, just need my bag," Jasmine said searching for her backpack. "I forgot it!!" She yelled shaking her head. "At home?" Austin guessed, "No in the other world ." she replied burying her head in her palms.
"You forgot it there!!, why would you do that ?", Austin asked surprised at her answer.
"I was hiding, I removed my bag when the giants were coming out of the cave and I had to run so I left it.", Jasmine replied looking up at him. Austin brushes his hair with his fingers. "I need to get my bag back, some of my mom's things are inside, I can't just lose them like that.", Jasmine talks with Austin nodding only in agreement with her.
" I can't go alone you have to help me Austin, please." Jasmine pleaded.
"I will come but only on one condition," Austin suggested.
"What's it?"
"You have to forgive me", Austin concluded.
"How does your forgiveness have to do with you following me?", she asked confused.
"Come on Jasmine we can't go there fighting with each other, we have to be in good terms", Austin says finally licking his lips. By the time silence came between them, they realized that the hallways were empty. "Think about it", was all Austin said as he went to class.
After classes, Jasmine headed to the cafeteria for her lunch. She spotted Austin alone on the table eating what looked like a cheese burger. "Time to end this", she said to herself as she made her way to table Austin sat.
"Hey", she greeted as she sat down near him, he didn't respond continuing with his burger. Jasmine still playing with her food finally got the courage to say what she had in mind. "I forgive you", she whispered still playing with her food. Austin dropped his burger, cleaning his mouth with a napkin.
"You believe?", he looked at her surprised.
"Yea the past is the past right?", she grinned at him.
"In that case", he said turning back to his food. "We can go"
"Where?"
"To get your bag from the other world", he said easily.
"You were serious back there?", Jasmine raised a brow looking at him.
"Yea, need some adventure once in a life time", he said
"We can go on Saturday?", she asked hoping he wouldn't say anything negative
Austin just smirked looking at me "Fine by me".
