My head started spinning all of a sudden. I didn't know how to even take that in. Was Kishinuma just trying to get back at me, or was he being sincere?

I had to shut his phone off. I was almost at the school by that point, and... I didn't think I was ready to read any more text messages.

It only took a few more minutes to get to school, and I saw Shige-nii waiting for me. When he saw me, he smiled and waved.

"Hey! There you are."

I wasn't sure why, but I suddenly felt very nervous around him...

Probably because of what Kishinuma said... And the fact that I kinda maybe sorta liked him for a few years.

I never said anything, though. We were best friends, after all. If he didn't feel the same way... Everything would be ruined. And that wouldn't have been worth it.

"...Yeah... I'm here..."

He walked over to me and raised an eyebrow.

"What's up with you? Did something happen on your way here?"

I internally panicked. I didn't know if I should tell him at that moment or wait. Well... The others could've arrived at any moment, so I decided to put it off.

"I'll tell you later."

His face showed concern, but he nodded.

"Alright..."

We were both silent for a moment before he spoke again. He pointed ahead and his eyes went wide.

"Quick, I see them! Hide!"

I took off and hid in the bushes, and Shige-nii followed me.

I was going to stay there until he gave me the cue. I prayed for the very best. We had already made it this far... Failure was not an option.
