"We are receiving a distress signal from the USS Kobayashi Maru. The ship has lost power and is stranded," Lieutenant Uhura said, sounding disinterested, "Starfleet Command has ordered us to rescue them."

"'Starfleet Command has ordered us to rescue them,' Captain," Jim said in a lightly arrogant tone.

An alert tone started from one of the panels on the simulated bridge.

"Two Klingon vessels have entered the neutral zone and are locking weapons on us," McCoy relayed.

"That's okay," Jim said simply.

"'That's okay'?"

"Yeah, don't worry about it."

"Did he say 'don't worry about it'?" Lieutenant Commander Johnson questioned.

"Is he not taking the simulation seriously?" Lieutenant Suoh asked.

Sala furrowed her brows ever so slightly as she continued to watch, wondering what Jim was up to. He had assured her a few days earlier that he was going to pass the exam this time but it appeared as though he couldn't have cared less about what was happening.

"Three more Klingon War-birds decloaking and targeting our ship," Cadet Walters relayed.

"I don't suppose this is a problem either?" McCoy asked, though more stated, in an irritated tone.

"They're firing, Captain."

"Alert medical to prepare to receive all crew members of the damaged ship," Jim said, disregarding the fact that they were now being fired upon.

"And how do you expect us to rescue them when we're surrounded by Klingons, Captain?" Lieutenant Uhura asked, also growing irritated with Jim.

"Alert medical," Jim said simply while briefly turning the Captain's chair to face the Lieutenant.

Red Alert tones started to sound on the simulated bridge.

"Our ship's being hit," McCoy relayed.

"Shields at sixty percent," Cadet Walters informed.

"I understand," Jim said while reaching for something before pulling out an apple.

"Should we, I don't know, fire back?" McCoy asked, growing further irritated.

"No," Jim said simply before taking a bite of the apple.

"Of course not."

Suddenly the power within the simulated bridge fluxed.

"What is this? What's going on?" Lieutenant Suoh asked.

The power on the simulated bridge then blinked out. It was only gone for a moment before returning.

"Hm," Jim said before pausing for a brief moment, "Arm photons, prepare to fire at the Klingon War-birds."

"Yes, sir," Cadet Walters replied quickly.

"Jim, their shields are still up," McCoy said, turning to face Jim.

"Are they?" Jim asked, taking another bite of his apple.

McCoy turned back to the screen in front of him, "No. They're not."

"Fire on all enemy ships. One photon each should do it, let's not waste ammunition."

"Target locked and acquired on all War-birds," Cadet Walters relayed, "Firing."

The simulated bridge gave the sounds of photons being fired before the screens displayed the Klingon War-birds that were around the bridge being destroyed.
