A chilly winter evening. I visited 87-year old Mr A who was under palliative care.  His 50-year old son stood by his bedside.

His son said sadly, "Dad sleeps most of the day."

I could see Mr A was very ill and he hadn't  shaved for a few days. I explained a palliative care plan to his son and said goodbye to Mr A who hardly responded.

The next morning, his son called and informed me that his dad passed away in the midnight. He added, "I gave my dad a shave and he smiled, that's the most memorable thing I did for my dad before he died."

I was touched.
