Hii! This is dedicated to @istolethecookiez because she updated when I was close to death from boredom at my aunt's house. Thank you! and guys, check out her story, it's one of the best I've ever read!

Oh and for anyone who doesn't remember, Cole is Sophie's older brother. (He's in Chapter 1 if you want a reminder)

Enjoy! :)

My mind was still completely blank as I felt Zach pulling me along off the stage while I stumbled along, gaping like a fish.

I had got through.

Zach had got through.

Both of us had got through.

I was going to be in a national competition. With Zach.

We were going to be in a national competition.

Crap.

Suddenly I really wished that I had never agreed to audition. I mean, I didn't think I would actually get through. And I hadn't ever even heard Zach sing.

As Zach sat back down, he pulled me down with him and I bounced to the floor, still not in control of my own body. Before I knew it the assembly was over and everyone was rushing out as I just sat there staring at the floor wide-eyed.

I faintly recognised the door opening and closing and managed to lift my head up, only to see Zach walk in. My eyes followed him as he walked towards me and sat down opposite me.

"You alright?" He asked simply.

Although I thought it wasn't possible, my eyes opened even wider as I stared at him.

"Okay. You're starting to scare me now."

"Am I alright? Really? I mean, I'm through. You're through. I can't believe it. I have to talk to Cole. I mean, I love him and everything and he's the best brother I could imagine but now I'm just really beginning to doubt my sense of imagination. I know I shouldn't blame him completely seeing as I never should even have agreed to entering but I can't believe that he actually went to her and told her he thought I could sing. I mean, obviously it's amazing that he thinks that but really? I can do these things for myself right?" I asked stupidly, glad to have got all that out.

I stood up and began pacing as I felt Zach's eyes following me.

"Erm..." I heard Zach mutter, obviously confused about what to answer.

"It's fine. You don't need to answer anything. It's not really your problem anyway. Actually, it kind of is your problem now seeing as we're both stuck with each other for as long as we're in this competition. Although I doubt that will be long. I mean, I've never heard you sing! I can't do this with you! And even if I had heard you sing, it would still be a completely stupid idea because you should hate me and I should hate you! I should just tell Mrs Goldstien that I can't do it. Right?" I let out, pacing around the whole hall while I spoke. "Because I really can't. There's just nothing right about this whole situation and anyway I hate singing in front of peop - "

"Sophie! Shut up!" Zach interrupted.

I froze before turning to look at him. He got to he feet with this weird look on his face. A mix of anger, confusion and - something else I couldn't quite put my finger on.

"So you're freaking out," he started. "I get that. And if you want to drop out then fine. But I really just don't get you. Cole thought you were good so he told someone and out of everyone in our school who applied, you got picked. Why are you still doubting yourself? Like, is it impossible for you to think that you're actually good at something? Because from where I'm sitting it looks like you're always first to put yourself up for helping other people but you never do anything for yourself."
