Chapter 17
"Sophie please. I'm sorry."
Suddenly I felt a shot of pain run through my stomach and took a sharp breath as quietly as I could before bringing my legs up and curling myself into a ball. The pain didn't lessen though and I felt relieved that I had turned to face the wall as tears ran down my face again.
"Sophie?" Zach whispered softly.
"Sto - " I started before my throat got caught and my mouth shut as the tears kept flowing.
"Crap," he whispered sounding worried. "Please turn around. This isn't because of me is it? Please tell me it isn't because of wh - "
"Zach. Aspirin." I let out sounding like a cat being strangled.
"How many?" He replied immediately.
"Two."
I waited for a few seconds before I felt his hand on my shoulder, instantly spreading warmth through my whole body.
"Turn away," I whispered, not wanting him to see me crying. If I was keeping my distance then I wouldn't let him see me cry.
"Sophie I kno - "
"Please."
"I - Okay. Yeah sure," he said with a tone that sounded like he had just agreed to set himself on fire.
I turned around and took the Aspirin from the bed, seeing Zach with his back facing me before turning back around.
"Thank you," I whispered to let him know that I was done.
He didn't say anything back but I felt him shuffle around and felt the bed dip closer to me before his hands were under me again and he flipped me over surprisingly gently.
"Zach you don't have - "
"I want to," he said quickly.
I was more than shocked and momentarily froze before I felt my stomach lurch and jumped out of bed ignoring the pain and running to the bathroom.
I slammed the door shut behind me so that he wouldn't come in and knelt over the toilet emptying my stomach which had fooled me into thinking it was already empty.
"Sophie!?" I heard Zach call.
I found myself shouting for him to stay out in my head but couldn't actually verbalize any of the words.
The door opened as I leant over the toilet for a second time and saw Zach kneeling next to me as he took my hair and held it back with one hand and rubbed my back in soothing circles. I hated that he was seeing this but had no energy left in me to say or do anything and dropped my head once everything was out of my system.
Zach got up and came back a few seconds later. He knelt down once again and slipped his hands under me before carrying me to the sink and sitting me down next to it as if I weighed as much as a baby. He handed me the water and I took it and rinsed my mouth twelve times before Zach stopped me.
"I think that's enough, don't you?" He asked, forcing a small smile.
I stared at him not wanting to open my mouth incase anything else decided to come out.
"Okay. Come on," he whispered before lifting me up again and carrying me over to my bed before putting me down gently and pulling the duvet over me. He got in next to me and I thanked God that I wouldn't have to ask him to stay.
