Chapter 20

The rest of the week passed quickly. Everyone was settled into school routine again except for Zach and I who weren't having any lessons. I used to think it was strange how fast nights went when I slept with him but really it was stranger how fast the days went spent with him.

He hadn't said anything about the night that Cole came but neither did I. Maybe he genuinely thought I was knocked out and didn't realise I would remember. I had fallen asleep ridiculously fast once Cole had left after all.

We had decided to have our movie night tonight as we hadn't watched any for the whole week and Lex chose X-men so we settled onto two beds again except this time not only had Lex decided to actually sit on the same bed as Seb, but they seemed amazingly comfortable.

Zach came and sat down next to me with some popcorn as the movie started.

"Are you nervous?" He whispered into my ear, draping an arm around me as I leaned my head on his shoulder. He was comfortable okay!

"Huh?" I replied like a total idiot.

"For tomorrow."

"Oh," I said when I realised he was talking about regionals. "I don't know. A little? I don't think it's sunk in completely yet."

"So you're going to be going crazy tomorrow?"

I whispered a laugh. "Probably."

"STOP TALKING!" Lex yelled causing both our heads to snap to her direction.

"As long as you don't become like her," Zach told me rolling his eyes before we carried on watching the movie in silence.

I started dozing off while they were talking about being 'mutant and proud' when I heard Lex ask if I was asleep and I felt Zach move slightly as he shrugged.

"Well wake her up then you idiot," Lex said.

"No."

"Excuse me?"

"No."

"You realise no-one has ever said no to me right?"

"Yeah," he said and I could hear him smirking.

"Why won't you just wake her up?!"

"Because I don't want to."

"Why not?" Lex asked although her tone had changed from one of anger to one of amusement.

"I just don't."

"That's funny because I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with waking me up."

"Wow. How did you come to that conclusion!?" He asked sarcastically.

"Maybe you just like Soph more than me?"

Where the hell was she going with this!?

"Yeah. Maybe." Zach answered vaguely.

"I suppose I could have guessed that much to be honest."

"Hm."

"After all, you spend more time with her than I do, you sleep with her and the way you look at her is - "

"Lex!" Seb whispered suddenly.

There was silence and I could imagine them having a staring competition while Charles Xavier was convincing Erik not to leave.
