Chapter 10

I lay down on my bed after picking up a random book to read from the pile we keep in the corner. Every time that I talked to Zach it would end up with something that he didn't want to tell me so I decided to just leave him to carry on doing whatever he was doing on his laptop.

As much as I loved reading I couldn't concentrate on the words and ended up skimming over the same sentence over and over again without actually taking anything in. When I realised it was pointless to even try to read, I put the book down and picked up my phone to ask Lex and Seb where they were.

Suddenly Zach chuckled and looked up at the same time as me.

"You write an anonymous column!?" he asked.

"W - What? No! Of course not! Everyone knows it's me in my column!" I tried to convince him. How the hell did he find out?!

He just laughed at my blatant lie. Please say he fell for it.

"Don't lie to me, Sophie," he said, walking towards me.

I gulped loudly. "I'm not." I whispered, terrified of the look on Zach's face and hoped he would stop moving.

He stopped walking and I thanked God in my head before a small smile appeared on his lips.

"What are you smiling at?" I asked him, finding my normal voice again.

"Nothing. Just figured it out."

"Figured what out?"

"What you do when you lie," he said, smirking now.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"Why don't you want anyone to know it's you?" he asked, changing the topic.

"What? H - How - "

"It's so obvious! Who else knows?"

"Danny... "

"That's it?!"

"And you."

"Wow," he whispered to himself.

"How do you know? Did Danny tell you?"

"Nah. Got it from your writing. I mean, looking through all your soppy romance advice and your actual column, the writing style is nearly the same. And it's also just like how you talk. How can no one else know?!"

"What?!" I asked, unable to take all of that in, while sitting up.

He sat on the foot of my bed and gave me a moment to process that.

"What do I do when I lie?" I asked, curious.

He smirked. "You're going to have to figure that out for yourself, darling."

I glared at him for a few seconds before he broke the silence.

"If you're done glaring, I have an idea for Lex and Seb."

My eyes widened and I raised my eyebrows, signalling for him to carry on. I would find out more about this later.

"Okay, so we're going to have to do something about it tonight before lessons start again because then we'll just have to wait another week and I cannot take that girl and her anger issues for that long. Anyway, you deal with her, and I'll handle Seb." He raised an eyebrow, asking if I was following.
