A year has passed since that encounter and Jungkook has had time to cool off a bit. He came to terms with being the only one with a human mate, although he still hasn't told his hyungs of it and he still hasn't gone out to actually meet her.

After his initial reaction, he felt ashamed and didn't think his mate would actually like to see him at all. Another reason was, that he was scared. His mate was a human, she grew up hating and fearing werewolves. There was no way in hell she would accept him on the spot. The risk was actually pretty high, that she would run and tell the hunters in town and they would come to wipe him and his pack out. The risk was just too high, he couldn't do it, but he watched her from afar sometimes, when his inner wolf was whining too much and the pain of being apart was unbearable.

Jisoo, however, lived her life normally. She was eighteen now and nothing much changed for her, she still lived with her mother and her life was still the same. The only difference she noticed was, that the general fear of the werewolves in the woods had subsided a bit. The hunters weren't constantly on edge and they were often seen with a beer in their hands instead of silver loaded shotguns.

It was peaceful until it wasn't anymore. At least not for Jungkook's pack.

The leaves had started to fall off the trees, like the last present to the earth before it would be frozen for a long time. It was a peaceful season for the pack. Jimin and Nari would be out in the woods, enjoying the last bit of warmth the sun had to offer before winter would snatch it away. Taehyung and Hwayoung used the rustling of the leaves to go hunting and Hoseok and Yoona sometimes were away for weeks before returning with red cheeks and adventure in their eyes.

The only ones on edge were the older ones, Jin, Namjoon, Yoongi, and Iseul. They feared the rain that came with the fall for it washed away any traces of scent, was it their own, or those of rogues that wandered into their territory.

Normally Jungkook would be laughing at the constant worry of his hyungs and his noona, but this fall he could feel the uneasiness crawling up his spine as well. He was not scared for his pack, he knew they could defend themselves and each other well enough, but he was scared for her. She was alone and so so blissfully ignorant of what was going on outside of the town.

The only thing that kept him from bolting through the forest, making sure there was no danger to his easily breakable mate, was the constant feeling of ease that he felt in his heart. She was alright and happy, he could feel it through their bond and that was the only thing rooting him to his spot.

Jisoo lived in her own little bubble, she didn't hear any howling throughout the night, no sheep disappeared near her home and no killings were reported in the town. It almost was, as if the werewolves didn't even exist anymore and maybe, just maybe, they weren't actually there anymore... Jisoo liked to believe, that the woods were free from the horrendous beasts that had killed her father. Maybe the pack moved after the hunters killed the alpha?

All those thoughts clouded her mind and although Jisoo was smart, she was also naive and believed those thoughts. She once heard from a friend, that the hideout of the werewolves was located at the other side of town and so Jisoo made a decision. She wanted to see the forest that ringed their town just once and the werewolves wouldn't be able to smell her from that far, right? She just wanted to take a short look, nothing bad could happen in a couple of minutes, especially during the day.

She silently crept through the underbrush, marveling at all the pretty colors and the sound of nature. Birds were chirping, she heard mice squeaking and even saw a little fox once, immediately fleeing in the opposite direction as soon as it saw her. A joyous laugh escaped the girl, as she almost danced through the forest, forgetting about the dangers that still lurked in the shadows and so did Jungkook as he only felt happiness bubble inside of him.

When a massive branch cracked behind her, Jisoo whipped around, staring at the darkness that lurked between the trees. The sun had begun to set, she wasn't even aware of that. Her throat was dry, as she tried to call out in the direction of the noise, but nothing came out. Instead, a humongous beast emerged from the shadows, the fur was a dirty silver, crusted with mud and leaves sticking to it. Its snout was wet with red liquid and fangs bared at the girl. A thundering growl was reverberating through her chest, as the black eyes focused on her and it slowly crept forward.

Jisoo felt like crying, but no sound and no tear came out, as she slowly tried to back away from the werewolf. There was something frighteningly beautiful about the creature in front of her, just like her mother described. Even though she was scared out of her mind she was amazed at the lethal beauty that stalked closer and closer.

"Please don't hurt me" she squeaked out, her voice tiny as an insignificant mouse because that's what she was to it: an insignificant little creature. The growl changed until it almost sounded like malicious laughter in her ears. Jisoo was terrified and suddenly her survival instincts kicked in.

She ran, as fast as her feet could carry her in no particular direction. She just wanted to get away from this monster. The paws of the beast were close behind her, branches and flowers breaking under its massive weight. Jisoo was crying and then she stumbled, tumbling to the ground. She could just turn around, as it pounced on her. A blood-curdling scream left her lips and resonated through the forest, as the beast set its paws on her chest, its stinking breath and opened mouth hovering over her face.

Jisoo was whimpering in fear and then screaming out in pure agony, as the wolf bit her thigh, making the flesh rip between his teeth and bones break. White hot pain shot through her whole body and she screamed and screamed again until the wolf was violently thrown off her, another bigger and darker wolf with golden eyes biting, clawing and scratching the attacker.

Jungkook could feel the pain through his chest before his sensitive ears picked up the screaming. Panic took over his senses immediately and he bolted out the door, earning a few confused shouts of his hyungs and unnies. But he couldn't think, he only felt the pain and the fear and the utter despair burning inside him and he couldn't control himself, collapsing on the floor a few miles from the hideout and he was growling and bones were cracking and skin was ripping. His bones broke and realigned themselves, fur was sprouting from his milky skin, his eyes flashed golden and his teeth elongated.

Normally a shift was painful, but today Jungkook didn't feel anything. His mind was occupied with the pain she felt and the fear. His mind screamed at him to reach her, to comfort her and to rip whatever it was that was hurting her to shreds and that was exactly what he planned on doing.

I'm coming baby, I'm on my way.

Sorry for the delay, I hadn't slept in 48 hours because of birthday parties and was still semi-drunk ^^ You wouldn't have wanted a chapter when I was like that.
