A Visit Home
Lauren's POV
Within a few weeks of Tricia being gone, Bree being here, and constant rumors beginning because of my time spent with Ben, I was ready for a long overdue visit back to Chicago to see my mother and sister.
And as I stepped off the plane and walked towards baggage claim, I was extremely happy to see my mother standing there, already holding my luggage. I was surprised however to see my three bestfriends also stood beside her.
"Lauren!" All three of them yelled as they saw me.
Mallory, Mason, and Matt. I really was the odd ball out in our group seeing as my name didn't begin with an M.
Mallory squealed as she ran up to me and attacked me in a hug. Mason and Matt weren't far behind as it turned into a group hug.
"We missed you." Mallory said happily.
"I missed you guys too." I responded as I just enjoyed the embrace.
"Hey! She's my sister. Let me in!" I heard Lacy yell.
"Lacy!" I yelled as I soon found her in my arms.
"Did you bring me anything?" She asked as she pulled back and looked at me with a puppy dog pout.
I rolled my eyes before pulling my carry on backpack off my back, opening it and pulling out a small box. Lacy squealed before taking it from me and opening it. Inside was a necklace I had gotten while in London one of the first days we were there.
"Thank you thank you thank you! I love it!" She said happily as she hugged me again.
"You're welcome." I replied with a smile.
I handed Mallory an unopened bottle of Nando's peri peri sauce that she had asked me to bring back. Ever since she had spent a week in London, eating mainly Nando's, she was obsessed with it.
Mason and Matt hadn't asked for anything, but I had brought them back something anyways. As I pulled out the two soccer jerseys, I watched their eyes widen as they realized what it was.
"You didn't." Mason said in disbelief.
"I may have attended a match or two. Manchester City vs Manchester United. Quite the games really. I may have also met some people. Mason, Manchester United jersey, signed by David De Gea of course. And Matt, Manchester City, signed by none other than the hottie that is Joe Hart. He was awesome by the way." I said as I handed them each their jerseys.
"Oh my god. You are the best!" Matt yelled as he pulled me into a tight hug.
Not to long after that, I felt Mason join in the hug. I had done well.
"So, where's your boyfriend?" Mallory asked with raised eyebrows and a smirk playing on her lips.
"We aren't dating. But he's still in the UK. I uhm, I needed some time away." I said as I looked at my feet.
"So you're still single then?" Matt asked awkwardly.
"Yeah, I am." I said as I looked at him oddly, "Why?"
"Just wondering." He said as he looked up at me with a small smile.
"We should get going." My mother said as she walked up to us.
"Right. I'm kind of tired, so I was hoping for a quiet movie night or something?" I asked as I looked at my friends hopeful that they'd agree.
"That sounds perfect." Mallory said happily.
"Can I join?" Lacy asked.
"Of course." I said as I threw my arm over her shoulder and began to walk, following my mother's path.
Matt was nice enough to offer to take my things to the car, so he had my suitcase rolling along behind him as we walked.
"So, what's it like touring with Ben and Ryan?" Mason asked as we got into the car.
"They're interesting. At first, Ryan was really quiet, mainly because of what happened to his wife. Ben was the same way for a bit because it was his sister. But their friend Bree joined us a few shows in, and ever since then, Ryan's been getting better, and Ben's been focused on getting his ex off the tour, so he's been dealing with his sister's passing a bit better everyday." I said.
"Alison right? His sister?" Lacy asked.
"Yeah. From what I hear, she was a great person. I feel bad that Ryan's lost her though. I've gotten the chance to talk to him a bit, and I can tell he misses her and that she was the only one for him. She was his soulmate." I said slightly sad.
"There's rumors going around that he's seeing that Bree girl, is that not true?" Mallory asked as we pulled up to the house.
"I guess they've seemed close this past week, but I don't think so. Who knows though, I could be wrong." I said as we all piled out of the car and into the driveway.
"Hey, I should get going. Cassidy's just texted and she wants to grab something to eat." Mason said.
"Cassidy?" I asked in confusion.
"Oh that's just Mason's new girlfriend." Matt mocked.
"At least I'm not dating my best friends sister." Mason mocked straight back.
"Woah woah woah, what?" I asked in shock this time.
"Oh yeah, Matt and Mall are totally together." Mason said with a smirk.
"And I wasn't told why?!?" I yelled.
"We weren't sure how you'd react. I mean, girl code and all. I mean you guys dated." Mallory said nervously.
"Screw girl code! Finally you two realized it! My god." I said in relief.
Mason let out a laugh as he went to walk towards his car that had been parked along the curb. Him and I had discussed Mallory and Matt getting together for years. They always seemed perfect for each other but never actually dated or anything.
"I'll see you later babes." Mason said with a wave.
"See you later Mase." I said with a small wave and a smile.
"So, movie night?" Lacy asked as we walked through the front doors.
"Yeah I suppose." I answered.
And so that was how we spent the night. Watching movies, catching up, talking about anything and everything. I was doing fine until I went to go to bed that night and found a text from Ben.
I miss you already. Please come back soon, it's not the same without you. But enjoy seeing your friends and family. See you soon xx
I had only been gone a few hours, and already I had the urge to go back...
