(suburbia, troye sivan)

tyler (she/them)

there he was, sat up on top of one of the red painted climbing games, blanketed in graffiti that had been there longer than tyler could even remember.

it didn't come to surprise that no one was in the park anymore. it was so worn down, probably not even safe for its targeted age group.

she makes her way up the cold, red metal barred ladder, making sure not to slip and sits herself next to the boy she'd had a crush on for the fast few weeks.

hey.
she signs, catching josh's attention as he looks down to her hands.

he smiles a little. it looked so genuine it was beautiful.

hey.
he replies, tyler looking over to the blue haired boy and how his eyelashes were clumped together and wet.

she places her hand on josh's shoulder, making him jump a little.

"are you okay?"
she asks, concerned about her friend who only nods. his breath shakes before turning to look at tyler as if to say 'and you?'

she just shrugs. "i-i... um, yeah. are you sure you're okay?"

the blue boy nods before pulling out his phone to type.

i'm great.
she bites her lip looking down, feeling chilled slightly by the breezes.

he was lying.

maybe he just didn't want to tell her. that was fine. that was okay.

the atmosphere felt... empty. they were sitting next to each other yet she couldn't feel so far away.

"oh."
then it was quiet again. but the silence was soon broken by josh's sniffling, tyler looks over to him to see more tears form in his eyes. then he collapses onto her shoulder, sobbing a little, the youngest not knowing what to do so she just warps her arm around him comfortingly.
"h-hey... j-josh... don't cry. it's okay."

he nods into her chest rubbing his eyes.
as he leaves her grasp, he sits back
upright still crying a little.

"d'you wanna get out of here? we can go to the beach. it's only a couple of minutes away... w-we can sit and just relax and talk?"

joshua bites his lip as the thinks, before nodding once again.

"o-okay. that'll be nice. we can go and..." she thinks "uh, i don't know. b-but it'll be nice, right?"

he just ignores the last comment getting up from where he sat and jumped off the climbing frame, landing on his two feet, beginning to walk not even turning to see if tyler was following.

oh, okay.
