No POV
I wanted to hold her, I wanted to tell her everything was gonna be alright.
Leaning against his porch railings was the most beautiful girl he'd ever laid eyes on. Her long, brunette locks were curled loosely, she rolled up the sleeves of her oversized denim jacket before returning to play with the end of her mauve t-shirt dress. "Uh...hey" he said nervously. She chuckled at his nervousness, "Hey Jason". He felt a broad smile spreading on his face as he heard her sweet voice. "So, I wouldn't ask unless I needed to but my car won't start and I was wondering if maybe you or your dad could take a look at it after school. I totally understand if you're busy, I can take it to the garage if so", she questioned Jason with that same sweet smile she showed earlier this morning from her window. "Yeah I can take a look at it after school tonight", he replied with a small smile; he attempted to mask the wave of surprise and excitement but failed miserably . She smiled at his adorable failure and said thank you, she turned on her heel and went to walk down the porch steps.

"Hey Cynthia, do you maybe want a ride to school. Considering your car and all", Jason asked. She spun back around, a huge smile creeping up over her face, "That'd be great".

Cynthia's POV
I watched him hop down the steps to his truck. I chuckled before following after him. He opened the passenger door for me and yet another giggle passed my lips as he said jokingly, "Now I know it's not horse and carriage but it's going to have to do for now because it's the best I've got". He smirked trying to hold in his chuckle. I allowed myself to step into the passenger seat of his truck before Jason pushed the door shut.
For the entirety of the 10 minute journey we exchanged many laughs and a lot of small conversation, asking how each other had been and shit. To my relief he didn't talk about that night we shared; I wouldn't know what to say if he had.

Jason finally pulled up at the school's parking lot. He averted his gaze from the wheel to the huge building that stood before us. He sighed and mumbled something that I couldn't quite hear before stepping out and opening my door for me. I thanked him as I stepped out and he looked at me as if to say something before 5 figures approached him cutting him off completely.

Jason's POV
I wanted to tell her. I wanted to ask her how she was. I wanted to have a meaningful conversation if only for five minutes. I wanted to hold her and tell her everything was gonna be alright. I wanted to do all these things, but I couldn't and every time I tried I choked them up. I had finally built up the courage, after all these months. I was finally about to say what I had been wanting to say since I saw the first bruise last summer. I opened my mouth to say it and then "HEY MCCANN" "BRO WHAT'S UP".
Every fucking time.
Six of my fellow basketball team mates monkeyed around me, chanting and cheering. It was Ryan (My best friend), Chaz, Cole, Tyler, Harley and the biggest airhead I have ever encountered - Bryan Foley. I watched and listened to the mutters around me as Bryan eyed up Cynthia as if she was a piece of meat he definitely wanted to taste. My fists clenched at my sides as he licked his lips and pressed his hand against my truck leaning over her. "Hey baby", he said in a failed seductive voice. "Hello Bryan", she replied raising her eyebrow in obvious annoyance. "I've missed you", he said with that same sickening expression. Honestly if I tensed my fists any harder I'd be in the hospital with 8 broken fingers and 2 fractured thumbs. Cynthia scoffed and rolled her eyes looking up to his towering figure in disgust. "That's funny Bryan because I definitely haven't missed you. Stop thinking with your dick and start thinking with your head," she paused to glance at his hardened face. She chuckled slightly and then continued, "And also," she leaned in so now she was looking him square in the eye, "If you value that precious dick of yours, I'd back the fuck away from me".

She threw her bag higher up her arm to stop it from falling and removed Bryan's hand from the truck, swiftly gliding by him. She turned back, locking her glance with mine before saying, "I'll see you later Jason, thank you for the ride." She smirked before turning back to enter the school doors. There it was again, my heart literally skipped a beat every time she said my name.

She had now disappeared into the school hallways. Bryan's face remained hardened, a sense of shock swallowing him up. All of us remained tight-lipped, trying so hard to hold in our laughs and comments. He pivoted our way so now his face was facing us making it almost impossible to hold in our reactions. Ryan was the first to go shortly followed by the remainder of us. All of us practically pissing ourselves laughing right in his face. He opened his mouth trying to gather up something to say. He failed miserably, eventually grunting and marching off, throwing the school doors open.
Everyone around me following after him apart from Ryan.

"Hey Jase", I turned around to face Ryan. "Yeah man?", I replied. "You coming out tonight we're all going to that skate park Chaz showed us last summer, it's gonna be lit we got plenty of beer from Harley's dad's liquor store and Des is going to be there".

Oh yeah, Destiny Summers, the girl that had 'fallen madly in love with me'. The girl that I'd turned to when I felt myself losing control again. Forgot about her.

"Man I can't tonight" I politely declined Ryan's offer. I didn't want to spend a night sitting around a lame skate park watching Bryan throw himself over any cheerleader he could get his hands on and most importantly I didn't want to see Destiny; I haven't spoken to her since last spring when we broke each others hearts. She cheated on me and I ended it, your boy has not got time for that bullshit. I also didn't want to see her because she was no longer the one turning my head (she hadn't been even when we were dating), I knew she'd go batshit crazy if she knew that so I was quite happy to live out the rest of my time at high school pretending she didn't exist. The one I was dying to make mine was standing right outside my door this morning.

"Damn why man?", Ryan quizzed snapping me out of my daze. "I...er...have this BBQ tonight at my step mom's mom's place" I quickly made up knowing that Ryan was stupid enough to believe me. "Ok fair enough. Come on we got English Lit to get to first period" he gestured his hand motioning me to follow him.
