On my bedside table,
I have a beautiful vase,
The one you gifted me,
When when I turned fourteen.
I smile as I see it now,
The smooth feel of the white china,
The fairy- like sparkle, off the edge,
Lighting up the graceful carvings here and there.
These million little pictures,
Make me love it more a little.

I run my finger along the gentle rise and fall,
Of it's dainty shape so small.
I smile again as I remember the way,
You added a bit more of yourself to it, everyday.
I would look at you and wonder,
How you'd managed to brave waves and thunder,
Simply to see me smile,
Because you would work harder on the vase every night,
Just so that I would have a piece of you, everytime I cried.

On the days the sky was sober,
It glistened and made me feel better.
On the days it rained,
Dripping droplets, the window stained.
It stood for peace, oh! our vase stood for light,
Just like you shone, always so bright.
And when our romance broke into the dawn,
The dark moon had been long gone,
I sang for joy, I put fresh new flowers in it daily,
As the curving surface reminded me gently,
That we had made it through all the misery,
And our love had surpassed infinity.
