*Samantha's POV*

"Gone? What do you mean he's gone?" I asked. From several paces away Morris tapped his shoe against the floor, placing both hands in his pockets he watched the exchange with an impatient frown.

"He came home earlier, he was all flustered and panicked, he had something hidden beneath his jacket and he ran to his room. He came back out a couple of minutes later and disappeared. I've tried to call but his phone is off, he's been gone for 3 hours" she rushed, her small hands fidgeting nervously in front of her body. She shot a quick glance towards Mr Morris who began making a point of checking his watch every few seconds.

"Fuck sake" I sighed, running a cold hand through my hair before letting it rest gently on the scarf around my neck. I knew why Harry had run, and as Daniella reached forward to pull the scarf gently from my neck, I realised that she had joined the dots also. She gasped as her eyes raked back and forth across the bruises littering the delicate skin on my neck. My throat was less sensitive than it had been this morning, but the skin still felt raw and tender to the touch, and my voice was still hoarse as I spoke. She sighed and fixed the scarf back into place.

"How did you know?" I asked softly. Her gaze flickered to meet mine for a moment, the eyes giving me some clue as to the internal battle that she was waging. She shifted as if she wanted to speak, but instead retreated back into herself and said nothing.

"Will you help me find him?" She asked instead. Morris cleared his throat.

"There's something I need to do first" I said, casting my gaze momentarily to Morris who was beginning to look more and more pissed off with each word we spoke.

"What do you mean? We have to find him!" She exclaimed, her eyes widening with panic as she took a small step closer to me. I wanted to reach out to her, to hug her and say that we would find him, that I would go with her now and scour the city until we found this broken boy. But I couldn't, I couldn't walk away from what Mr Morris had told me, not when it could make of break everything I had been working towards for weeks. I needed to see what had happened for myself.

I reach forward and placed my hand on her shoulder and she flinched slightly, I frowned.

"Daniella I'm sorry, I want to go with you, really I do, but I need to finish what I started. I'll only be with Mr Morris for a couple of hours, 2 at the most, and as soon as I'm done I will go looking for your brother" I promised.

"2 hours?! He could be anywhere by then!" She exclaimed. I sighed and shook my head, letting my hand fall from her shoulder and taking a step back.

"I'm sorry. Keep looking while I'm gone, tell me if you find anything or if you hear from him. But I will find him for you, I promise. Besides, I'm a detective, finding people is my job" I added lightly with a small smile. The worry on her face lifted briefly at my attempt to lighten the mood, but it was quickly replaced with an underlying sadness which had been present in her eyes since the day I met her. For almost 3 weeks I had watched this girl struggle with cards that she had been dealt, but with each day that she healed, it seemed that Harry was falling apart.

She nodded as I moved back towards Morris who was almost red in the face with frustration, his chest was heaving beneath his tailored jacket and his nostrils flared with each deep breath he inhaled.

"Are you quite ready now Miss White?" He asked with feigned composure. I shot him an unimpressed glare before we each turned and continued towards the car he told me was waiting to take us back to his business.
