*Samantha's POV*
"I've got something for you Samantha, sorry it took a bit longer than I had hoped" Nick said as he sauntered into my office the following morning, a folder of papers in his hand.
"No it's no problem," I said quickly, desperate for him to tell me what he knew, "so what did you find?" I asked.
"Well I found the footage of your girl walking past the Tesco, and I was able to follow her down the street a bit. Couldn't get a clear picture of what happened but in the corner of one of the screens you can see her pulled to the side. I assumed that was where she was grabbed as she's not seen on any of the other cameras towards her house. Couldn't get a clear image of the guy, he had something covering his face, but I did manage to her a shot of him walking away and towards a vehicle parked across the street" he explained, placing the folder on the table in front of me and opening it to reveal several still from the CCTV footage. Sure enough the first couple of pictures were of Daniella walking past the shop she mentioned and further on down the street. The third picture was just of the empty street where she had previously been seen, the time in the corner of the picture read 11.42pm. That must have been the exact time Daniella was dragged from the street. I supressed the shudder that was threatening to run down my spine.
"This is the only picture I managed to get of the attacker" Nick said, directing me to the next picture which showed a figure in a black hoodie and black jeans walking towards his car, his back towards the camera.
"So he never turned round once?" I asked.
"Nope, just got in his car and drove off, sick bastard" Nick sighed, placing both of his hands flat on the table so he was supporting himself as he hovered above me.
"So other than the timings this really can't help that much" I sighed, frowning at the pictures before me and cursing the man in the hoodie for not turning around just once.
"Yeah that's what I thought too, until I managed to get this" he said smugly, directing me to a final picture I hadn't noticed of the car driving away, the registration place caught by one of the cameras was circled in thick red pen.
"Nick you're brilliant!" I exclaimed, grabbing at the picture and drawing it closer to me. Sure enough the number plate was bold and clear to see, the car itself looking to be similar to a black range rover, but under the dim lighting of the night it was difficult to be sure.
"Eh just glad I could help really. Got a sister of my own, I'd be murderous if some bastard ever did that to her" he said.
"Thank you so much" I said.
"No problem," he said, "should be easy enough to track it so get going detective" he said with a smile and I laughed. He paused just before he left the room. "Oh and Samantha?"
I raised my head to look at him and my hands paused as they reached for my laptop.
"Good luck" and then he was gone. I smiled in his absence.
My laptop was already set with the necessary software to track the car, it was a piece of equipment I had taken great pride in being given access to once I joined the team and I spent most of my first day on the system tracking cars of my parents and people I knew just to see how it works.
I pulled the picture back towards me and scanned the number plate.
"SJ63 PQA" I said to myself, quickly typing it in to the search box. Immediately a match came up for a car, registered to a rental company down town, Morris Motors.
