Chapter 2: Prison

Aren didn't even get the chance to tell the others to run, the blast blew them out of the ship and sent them hurtling towards their destination: Pandora.

Aren hit the ground at an angle, causing him to bounce another 20 feet before skidding to a stop on the hard ground. He stared at the sky, soon coming to the decision that he is not going to die yet, he slowly sat up and looked around for the others.

Aren saw Elise and Dezroi about fifteen feet away from him and were starting to slowly get up. Xak, on the other hand, hadn't gotten off as easily, he looked pretty banged up.

Aren had just stood up and was looking around when he felt cold steel against the back of his head, he slowly turned around and saw a soldier like the ones from the ship. The soldier pushed him onto the ground as he felt more hands press down on him, he looked back at Elise and Dezroi and saw that the same thing was happening to them. Aren looked up and saw a soldier walking up to him and was about to ask him why they were doing this when he smashed the butt of his shot gun into his face.

Aren woke up some time later in a dank dark cell.

Ughh... What the hell happened?

Aren tried to sit up but fell back on the old bed as pain rushed to his face. After letting the black spots of pain leave his eyes, he slowly hopped off the bed and made his way to the electric field holding him in the cell.

"Hey."

Aren tensed when he heard the voice, how could've he been so stupid? He knew better than to assume that he was alone. "Who are you?"

A hand came down on Aren's shoulder, "Calm down bro, I'm not ya enemy."

Aren turned around and gasped, "A-Aren't you Mordecai!?"

Mordecai laughed while shaking his head, causing his dreads to swing side to side, "Ha ha ha! Glad to know I made an impression somewhere along the line!"

"What are you doing here!?! Why aren't you at Sanctuary or something!?"

Mordecai winced like he had been struck. He sighed and said, "There is no more Sanctuary, kid."

Aren was confused, to say the least.

"What? W-What do you mean?"

Moredecai gave Aren a pained look, "There is no more Sanctuary, it's gone."

"Gone?! How can a huge flying city be gone!?"

"It's not gone more like, no more.."

"Wait, so you mean..."

"That's right kid, Sanctuary was destroyed."

Aren fell to his knees, he wasn't sure what to do now.. Nothing was going to plan..

Mordecai helped Aren to his feet, "C'mon kid, let's find a guard so we can get out."

"Why do we need a guard?"

"I was supposed to tell them if you woke up, if you woke up is when we both got to get out."

"Wait, you said if I wake up, what'd you mean by that?"

"The guards thought you'd never wake up again.."

"Oh..."

After fifteen minutes of yelling and cursing, a guard finally came around to check on them. After the guard explained how lucky Mordecai was and how Aren better try not to get on anyone's bad side. Aren waved off the guard's warning, he'd been getting on people's bad side's for years.
