Jeremy
Hearing this old couple talk about my mate like she was a servant made me want to snap. But I held it in. Her stomach growls again and Den looks at it with a shock.
"Geez. Have you eaten today?" Den looks at her face and she lets out a small laugh. I take that as my cue to drag both of them to the kitchen and they sit at the makeshift bar in the middle of the kitchen.
"Hey B, what can I give them to eat?" I ask Brandon. The old couple stares at me with shock that I call him that and I roll my eyes.
"Uh, we have bread on the counter, ham and Turkey are in the bottom drawer of the fridge and cheese is in there too." I look at the two at the bar and they look at each other with their nose scrunched up. I can tell they don't want sandwiches.
"How about we run into town and pick up pizza? Does that sound good?" I look at the two at the counter and they nod happily. I look at Brandon for approval and he smiles at me. Taking that as a yes, I look at Sam.
"Did you bring it?" She smiles and keys are tossed to me. I missed my baby. Sage looks at the keys in my hand and smiles.
"Is that the keys to the plymouth?" She asks excitedly. I nod my head and she runs past me and shoots out the door. The whole house chuckles except for the old couple.
"That's my girl." Brandon mumbles. I grab Den's hand and we walk outside calmly. Sage is already in the front seat, buckled up and waiting. Den crosses his arms.
"No fair. She always gets shotgun."
"She's older." I let Jayden in on my side and put the seat back. Sliding in, I start the car and fall out boy starts playing. I forgot Sam drove here.
It takes us about twenty minutes to get into town and another ten to get to the pizza place. We all get out of the car and walk into the place and it's a mom and pop kind of pizza parlor.
"Welcome to Pippy's Pizza. What can I get for you today?" The cashier is a pretty girl probably about 19 or 20. Her long brown hair is pulled up in a ponytail and her brown eyes look me up and down. Sage must notice because she glares at the girl and grabs my hand. The worker, Sadie, looks at the exchange and smiles. She probably thinks that Sage is my daughter. I get that alot. I order 6 pizzas and we sit down to wait. Sage watches the counter following the girl, Den watches the counter waiting for pizza and I look out the window. After sitting in this place for about 30 minutes, my phone rings.
"Kinsten." I say as I answer the phone. A dark chuckle comes from the other side of the phone.
"Wow Jer, didn't think you went for the young ones." The voice on the other end makes the hair on my arms stand up. The man on the other side of the phone lets out a chuckle and my arm instinctively wraps around Sage. Her eyes snap to mine with worry and I look out the window. Sitting in a brand new 2018 Dodge Demon. The bright blue paint reflects the sun and the voice on the phone makes me look to the face in the drivers seat. The sun makes it hard to see the face of the driver.
"What is it Alfie? Afraid that little ol' me will steal your girl? You never deserved her you know. She is and will always be mine. Even if I have to fight." The voice says. An instant growl comes out of my throat at the mention of the name that Sage calls me. Only certain people know about that name. The only ones I know that know about it are my pack, my sister and her husband. None of them would be dumb enough to be like this. The door opens to the blue car and Sage chooses that moment to look up. She stares at the figure and he strolls in to the pizza place with his jeans hung on his hips and a leather jacket around his shoulders. Typical wanna-be.
She stands up slowly and my hand slides from her waist. She walks slowly to the boy and stands in front of him. She looks up into his eyes and they smile at each other. She wraps her arms around his waist and buries her head in his chest. He wraps his arms around her and I growl at their contact. Sage looks at me with a questioning look.
The girl behind the counter calls my name for the pizzas and we don't move. Den and I look at Sage and Emmett. I can tell Den doesn't really care for him. He looks at him with the same hatred that he used to look at me with when he caught me with Sage. The lady calls the name again and Sage pulls away from Emmett to walk up to the counter and I take the opportunity to walk over to him.
"Why are you here?" I growl. He chuckles and knows that it gets under my skin.
"Oh come on Jer. I just wanted to see my lovely girlfriend." He smiles and notices the anger on my face. "You know, I smell you on her. The tramp just couldn't stick to one guy, could she?" The second the words came out of his mouth, I snapped. I grab his jacket and slam him up against the wall of the building and he looks genuinely hurt. I don't care. This guy insulted my mate.
"Jeremy!" Sage yells, grabbing my shoulder and pulling me back. I drop Emmett and Sage looks at me with a hurt look. Emmett dusts himself off and smooths the wrinkles out of his jacket. "Why do you do this everytime you see him?" Emmett decides to look like I hurt him and Sage runs to his aid. She wraps her arms around his waist and he kissed her head.
"I'm okay babes. Let's just get out of here." Sage nods and pulls away from Emmett. She gestures for Den to follow.
"I'm staying with Jeremy." He looks at me to make sure it was okay and I nod my head. Sage looks at me and I swear I see smoke coming out of her ears. She gives Den a threatening look and he just stares. "Look sage, I love you. But I will never go with him again. He changed since we were little and if you're too naive to notice that this loser doesn't love you then fine." Den storms out of the building and jumps in my car, holding the pizza that Sage must have put on the table before she pulled me off of Emmett.
"Is it not enough for just you to hate Emmett? Do you really have to make my brother hate him too?" She looks at me like I'm the most evil person and her eyes turn a dark blue.
"I had nothing to do with him choosing me. I am just as shocked as the next person. I always thought he hated me." I say, narrowing my eyes. "Plus, don't you think if your brother chooses me over Emmett, who he's grown up around, something might be wrong with Emmett?"
"Don't even start that with me. Emmett has been the only one there for me. When my parents went through their fight, he was there. When you dragged me to your sisters house where I knew nobody, he was there." Her words stung and my eyes started watering.
"Sage, I love you and I hate to tell you this but you're making the wrong decision. I know I'm gonna regret this but I have to let you find this out on your own. See ya later." I push past the two and walk to the car, tears streaming down my face. Pulling the door open, I slide into the car and wipe my face. Den looks at me with a heartbroken look and I give him a small smile. I pull away from the pizza place and head back to Brandon's. How the hell am I gonna explain this to him? His little girl is with a psychopath. Great.
