Chapter 5

Shaylie's POV

We were in the water surfing and when we got hungry we finally came out. We all grabbed our sandwiches we packed and then grabbed our phones. We all checked them at the same time. I had nothing except a missed call. I figured it was nothing so I didn't even look at it. I heard Rydel squeal and we all looked at her like she was crazy. "What's wrong?" I finally said. "Ross asked out Laura, and she said yes!!" She started squealing again. "Awh Raura! I ship it!" I heard Rose say. "I got that text too!" Rocky, Riker, Ryland and Ratliff all said. "I didn't but we aren't that close, I guess." Rose said walking up to sit next to Riker, who were dating, by the way. "I didn't and we were SUPPOSED to be best friends!" I emphasized on 'supposed'. I scoffed and grabbed my surfboard and hit the waves again. Whenever I was upset, I would either call Ross to get my mind on things or surf. Since I was upset with Ross, I decided to surf. When I came back about a half hour later the boys plus Rydel and Thorn were playing football. I came back and sat down. Now I was eating my sandwich. "Hey, everything okay?" Thorn asked sitting down next to me. "Whatever, I mean; I make one mistake by not telling him I'm going on a date so he decided not to tell me about him and Laura!" I was getting so annoyed. Thorn was always really calm when I wasn't, it was really helpful to me, and she calmed me down. "Maybe, he wanted to tell you in person. You said you had a missed call, who was it from?" She spoke softly. "I-I don't know, I just deleted it." I looked down shoving my sandwich in my mouth. "Just call Ross!" She said. "I don't want to talk to him! I just don't understand." I looked down at my phone to look at the time. It said 5:00. "I'm going to pack my stuff in the car and then walk home. I'll catch you guys later." I called to everyone playing football and got up. I grabbed my surfboard and brought it to the car. I started walking home with my headphones in my ears and my music blaring. My head was down so I didn't notice that I almost ran into Ross who was walking towards the beach. I think he said something but I wasn't sure because my music was so loud. I felt him tap my shoulder and I looked up. "Hey, where are you going?" He said when he finally got my attention. "Where does it look like? I'm going home!" I snapped. "Is everyone home? I was coming to join you guys at the beach!" He didn't seem to notice how upset I was at him. "They are all there playing football, just I'm going home." I looked down and shoved my other headphone in and walked away. In the process Ross grabbed my hand causing me to pull out my headphones. "Everything okay Shaylie? You seem upset!" He said. "I just don't understand who you could not tell me about you and Laura! I mean, I tell you everything except the one time I was going on a date with Cameron and I didn't tell you, that wasn't important but this is! I just can't believe you couldn't tell me!" I screamed and had tears streaming down my face and ran home.
