Chapter 26

Shaylie's POV
"Shit!" I muttered when I got downstairs. "What the hell are you doing here?" Ratliff screamed. "What are you doing here? I thought you would be home." I said quietly. "When am I ever home? You better have a good explanation." Ratliff's voice got louder. "I-I'm sorry. I-I do." I stuttered. "T-Tyler.." I started but got interrupted. "We are going home. It's your first day of school. How could you miss it?" Ratliff's voice kept getting louder and louder. "Stop yelling at me and let me explain!" I screamed back at him which was a mistake. Tears were pouring out of my eyes but he didn't seem to care. Ratliff grabbed my wrist and pulled me home. "Go to your room." He said as he slammed the door. "I hate you! You won't even let me explain. Maybe I'm in serious pain right now but you don't fcuking care. Do you? I want to tell you but you don't care!" I screamed and ran to my room and slammed my door. I started crying into my pillow. Part of me wanted Ratliff to come up and talk to me but part of me wanted to sneak out and cry into Ross's shoulder. I lay there crying into my pillow after a half hour and hear a knock on my door. "Go away!" I screamed. "Wait, no. Please don't." I said quietly but just loud enough for him to here. Ratliff walked into my room and sat on my bed. "Hey, I'm sorry for screaming at you but I can't have you skipping school because of one bad thing. Okay? I'm responsible for you and I'm grounding you. Okay?" He said quietly with his arm wrapped around my shoulder. "R-Ratliff. You don't know what happened. T-Tyler cheated on me." I said trying to hold my tears back. "He what?" He screamed and jumped up. I winced and grabbed his wrist. "Please. Don't do anything. I was crying so hard at school, I texted Rydel to pick me up. I'm sorry. I couldn't do it though." I spoke softly. "Okay, but you are still grounded, okay?" He sat back down on my bed. "Okay." Tears streaming down the side of my face. He stood up and so did I. "Wha..." Ratliff started but I interrupted him. I hugged him so tight, not tighter than I hugged Ross though. I cried into his shoulder and felt him stroke my hair. We pulled away from the hug and I was back in my bed crying. I felt my phone vibrate. I figured it was Carter or Rose texting me about school. I picked up my phone ready to text them back. I read the screen and I smiled a little bit when I saw Ross's name.

I smiled when I read it but then frowned because I remembered that I was grounded.
To: Ross(;
I'm not sure Ratliff will let me out of the house :/

Why?

He caught me home from school. He wouldn't let me explain but I'll talk to him because I need to be in your arms.

I smiled at the text but didn't answer. I ran downstairs to talk to Ratliff. "Hey, I know you are probably going to say no because I'm supposed to be grounded but can I go over and hang out with Ross? Please!" I basically begged. If he waited a minute long I would have been on my knees. "Nothing is going to happen right?" He asked after thinking about it for a very long time. "Nothing will, I promise!" I started to smile. "Okay, go ahead. I'll probably be over in a few anyways." He said starting to stand up. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" I screamed and wrapped my arms around his neck and ran out the door. I knocked on the Lynch's door. "You're back!" Rydel's voice sounded cheery. "Yeah, Ratliff said he will be over soon and Ross wanted to hang out with me." I said almost smiling. "It's okay to smile! Ross is in his room." Rydel laughed. I hugged her and thanked her again for today. I walked up to Ross's room and knocked. "Come in." Ross's voice sounded slow and sad. "Do you still want me here?" I almost whispered. He jumped up from his bed and wrapped his arms around my waist. I let out a little giggle as he slammed the door with his foot. We lay on his bed with his arms around me. I moved closer little by little so he couldn't feel me. "You can't get much closer babe." He smirked when he felt me coming closer. "I can try." I joked. I closed my eyes and heard his soft slow breathing and fell asleep. I felt Ross slip out from behind me and I opened my eyes a little bit. I saw Ross open the door and then close it behind him before I could see who was there. I lay there in silence trying to hear who he was talking to and what they were talking about. I turned to the clock sitting on Ross's night stand and it read 9:00. I turned around and tried to fall asleep but couldn't because I wasn't in the comfort of Ross's arms. I hear the door creak open and I turn around. Ross and Ratliff were standing in the door way. "Hey, Shaylie. We have to get home." Ratliff said. "Can I spend the night?" I murmured. "No, you are grounded remember?" Ratliff's voice got stern. "Okay, okay. I'm coming." I got up from the bed and hugged Ross. He kissed the top of my head and I left. We got outside and Ratliff asked "What happened to nothing happening?" "What do you mean? Nothing happened." I questioned. "You in Ross's bed with a sleepy voice, Ross kissing the top of your head? That's nothing?" Ratliff asked. "Well, I mean he was just really comforting. We cuddled and I must have fallen asleep. He always kisses the top of my head, well he has been lately." I smiled. "Do you like Ross?" Ratliff questioned. "Why so many questions?" I laughed. "I'm your brother, I have the right to know this kind of stuff." He said. "Well, yeah, I do, but I don't want to and nothing will happen." I said walking into the house after Ratliff. I walked into my room and Ratliff followed me. He ended up tucking me in without me asking. He kissed my forehead just above where Ross kissed me. I turned to face my wall and I heard my door close and I texted Ross.

I never got his answer because I fell asleep.
