Chapter 9

Shaylie's POV

Before I knew it, Laura was running away crying and Ross was chasing after her. Whatever, I didn't care! I was with Rose, Rydel and the boys playing volleyball. After my team won volleyball we went surfing again. I look over when I hear Laura squeal about the water being too cold. "Yeah, she's a keeper." I mutter to myself. "You definitely want a girl who thinks the water is freezing when it's not and would rather write than surf!" I think to myself. Don't get me wrong, I love to write, but not as much as surfing and I know what Ross wants in a girl, and it's NOT Laura! I turn to Rose and I start talking to her until I see Carter. Next thing I knew, he had his arms around me! I started laughing and he whispered "Do you feel secure yet?" I laughed again. Carter and I had that kind of relationship sort of like a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship but we were just friends. He was so funny and he would always protect me, sort of like Ross and Ratliff. "Who's the chick with Ross?" He asked. "His girlfriend, Laura." I rolled my eyes. "She's hot!" I heard him say and then I smacked his chest. "Oww! Okay, guess not!" He said again. "Sorry." I backed down because I knew he could be me up. I tried to run away but he grabbed my waist and spun me around. I started giggling and I saw Ross staring at us. I wave to him and he gave me a half smile. "He looks jealous!" I thought. I decided it was time to tell Rose my feelings. She was standing next to me on the other side that Carter was. I whispered, "I need to talk to you when we get back to me house." In her ear and then smiled a little. She looked at me with a worried look on my face and I just looked back. "Whatttt?" I heard Carter whine. "Nothing, you big baby! If I wanted you to know, I would have told you!" I laughed and went in for a hug. He refused to hug me back until I pulled away and said, "Fine, don't hug me!" I went to turn around and then he pulled me back in. My chin was resting on his shoulder so I could see Laura and Ross being all "cute" behind him so I just squeezed my eyes shut and then pulled away. "I'm getting tired; it's been a long, tiring, confusing day. I'm going home. Are you going to come, Thorn?" I turned towards her and she nodded. "Bye Carter! Nice seeing you!" I called and turned away and ran out of the water holding my surf board while Rose did the same thing next to me. We got up into my room and sat down on my bed. "What did you need to talk to me about?" She said popping a squat on my bed next to me.
