Chapter 13: Great Start To School

     Monday finally came around. I woke up a few hours before and got in the shower, but today was the first day. The first real day. Friday was the orientation day. They showed us our classes and who we would be taught by, but today. I dreaded today. Alexis slid down the stairs railing as I was walking over to call up to her to make sure she was awake. I didn't even attempt to move.
     "Ah!" She screamed. I sighed as I caught her.
     "Mornin to you too sis. Excited for somethin?" She blushed from embarrassment.
     "Uh, heh. Sorry about that." She carefully dusted me off. "But today is the first day that we'll be doing magic training!" I sighed.
     "I know." She looked at me confused, then realized why I was acting this way.
     "Oh... right... your magic is... unique." I looked down at her.
     "Yeah. It is. Let's go so they learn what kind I have."
     "I know you'll do amazing! You're like, amazing with your magic! I'm surprised they haven't asked you to train the class." She said with a smile.
     "Uh huh. Let's go." I turned and walked towards the door, grabbing my duffle bag off the couch as I passed it. Alexis quickly grabbed her bag from the couch as well and ran around me and outside. She excitedly skipped beside me as we walked.
     "I can't wait to show them how strong I am!" She said with a determined face.
     "You realize there are gonna be people just as strong if not stronger right?" She turned and puffed her cheeks out at me.
     "Thanks for the support bro! Hmph!" She turned back around and ignored me.
     "Alright alright. You'll do great sis. You always were a high class fire mage." She turns and smiles at me.
     "You know it!" I chuckled at her.

     We walked into the school and we split for our separate first period classes. Alexis waved as she ran down the hall. Magic training was different for everyone. It was like gym, but we actually had a gym class too. My period for it was fourth. Alkia sat in front of me again, but she walked back to her desk with a smile. I was deep in my thoughts, trying to find out how I would show everyone my magic. It wasn't just the rare dark magic, it was dark blood magic.
~How am I supposed to explain that?~ I thought to myself. ~This is gonna be a long day.~ I laid my head down for a moment because I was starting to get a headache. But as I lay there the class representative walked in. The one and only Ruby Zoriniso.
     "You. Xavier Vanguard. Sit up." She called. Everyone knew the name. Zoriniso was the head private security company in the world. They owned everything. And if they didn't, they had the money to buy it. They were an army with no government to control them. Scary to think something that powerful could exist. "Did you not hear me?" I sat up and looked up to see her standing next to my desk glaring at me.
     "I heard you."
     "Then why did you not comply?"
     "Because I'm not a soldier you can just order around." I looked up at her with a slight grin. She growled at me. "What? Not used to being ignored?" I stood up and she stood her ground. She looked up at me and stepped around my desk to stand against me to try and intimidate me. I grinned more. "You think you scare me Ruby?" 
     "No. I don't. But I do think you should learn to listen." She glared up at me.
     "How about this. I'll make a deal with you." She held her glare for a moment then raised an eyebrow.
     "What are you suggesting?"
     "You beat me in a magic battle, I'll do anything you say. I'll be your little slave."
     "And what do you expect in return if you win?"
     "I want you to stop trying to order me around. I'm not some puppy on a leash you can drag around when I try to walk off." I knew she would take it. She's too proud. She would never step down from a challenge. The entire class was on the edge of their seat. The teacher was even intrigued by us. I grinned down at her. "So. Do we have a deal?" I crossed my arms.
     "Deal."
