Sam's POV:
It was a few days after Jordan and Kris left and Gunner and I were in my bedroom talking with the door open (That was Luke's rule if Gunner was over and we were in my room alone). The radio was on and when Thompson Square's song "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not" came through the speakers and Gunner took my hand, pulling me close as we moved to the music.
"We were sittin' up there on yer mama's roof, talkin' 'bout everythin' under the moon," Gunner sang softly in my ear. " With the smell of honeysuckle and your perfume. All I could think about was my next move. Oh, but you were so shy, so was I. Maybe that's why it was so hard to believe, when you smiled and said to me-"
"Are you gonna kiss me or not?" I broke in. "Are we gonna do this or what? I think you know I like you a lot, but you're 'bout to miss your shot." I pulled my head back and looked into Gunner's eyes. "Are you gonna kiss me or not?"
Gunner slowly leaned in and kissed my lips gently. We kissed for a minute before I pulled away and rested my head on his shoulder as we swayed to the music.
Luke's POV:
I jogged upstairs to head up to the attic. I glanced in Sam's room as I passed by and stopped, backed up and stood in her doorway as I did a double take. Sam and Gunner were slow dancing to a song on the radio. My protective father instincts kicked in and was about to pull them apart but stopped when I seen the look of complete happiness on my daughter's face. Not wanting to ruin that, I just continued up to the attic without interrupting them.
Sam's POV:
After Gunner left I was drawing pictures in my notebook when I heard Caroline call my name.
I sat down my pencil. "Yes Mama?"
"Do you wanna come help me bake some cookies?" She asked from the bottom of the steps.
"Yes ma'am. I would love to!" I told her as I rushed down the stairs.
"Now honey, I'm gonna go check on yer brother. He is playing outside. Yer daddy will help ya get started." She nodded to Luke, who was just entering the kitchen.
I nodded and she left.
"Alright baby girl, you get the bowls, measuring cups, and spoon while I round up the ingredients," Luke suggested.
I had just sat everything down on the counter when Luke finished grabbing the last ingredient. He let me pour the flour into the bowl but on the last scoop some of it flew up and got on his chin.
"Oops! Sorry Daddy!" I giggled.
Luke smiled and dipped his finger in the flour before wiping some on my nose. I grinned and dabbed some on his cheek. He put his whole hand in the bowl and smeared a lot on my forehead. The next thing I knew, we were having a flour fight, trying to get as much on the other person as possible. Then Luke grabbed the bowl and started chasing me with it.
"Ahhh! Daddy no! Get away!" I laughed.
"I'm gonna get you Sammy Girl!"
He caught up enough that he dumped the bowl on my head, covering me head to toe in the white powder.
"Oh, it's on now country boy!" I declared, grabbing the bag of flour and running at him.
Luke ran around the kitchen but I was able to corner him and throw the whole bag on him.
I burst into giggles at the sight of him. "Daddy yer as white as a ghost!"
Luke was laughing too. "Yer pretty pale too baby girl! I think we gotta go outside and get our tan back!"
We heard the front door open and froze as Caroline walked in. "Hey y'all. How's the cookies- what in the world?! What happened to my kitchen?!"
Luke and I looked at each other. "Uhhh, a mini tornado came through," we tried.
Caroline rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"Snow!" Bo cried when he saw the kitchen, running and playing in the flour.
We all started laughing as he tried to make a snow angle on the floor.
Just a normal day in the Bryan household.
