Sam's POV:
I walked downstairs after Bo and Caroline left and walked up to Luke in the kitchen.
"Hey Sam!" Luke called giving me a hug. "I got some excitin' news! Ya get to meet Jordan and Kris!"
"Who are they?" I asked.
"Yer cousins," Luke told me. "Jordan is seventeen and Kris is sixteen. I know y'all will get along great."
My stomach dropped but I forced I smile. I walked back to my room and sat at my desk.
'What in the world am I gonna do?' I wondered. 'Will they like me? Will they hate me? Do they think I'm only here for Luke's money?' I threw my head back and spun around in the chair.
Luke's POV:
Sam has been in her room all day. I walked up to her bedroom door and put my ear against it. Her radio was on but and a low volume and she wasn't singing along either.
When Sam didn't sing along to my song 'Country Man' I knew something was definitely wrong.
I knocked on her door. "Sam?"
"Come in," she called.
I opened the door and saw her in her computer chair, her legs up on the desk and staring at the ceiling.
I leaned against the desk. "Alright kiddo, what's up?"
She pulled her feet down and looked at me. "Nothin'."
I cocked an eyebrow at her. "Now I know that that ain't true. What's buggin' ya?"
"Nothin'. I'm fine," Sam shrugged.
I stared at her for a while before sighing and leaving the room.
Sam's POV:
I wanted to kick myself. 'Luke is probably mad at you now! Way to go Sam!' I thought angrily. 'You just HAD to lie to him about how you felt, didn't you? He knew you were lying and now he is mad at you. Now you not only do you got Jordan and Kris to worry about but you got to worry about Luke now too!'
I sighed and turned up the music but it wasn't helping my mood like it usually does so I just flipped it off.
Eventually I went down into the kitchen for a glass of water but Luke was down there putting the dishes away. I froze and fought the urge to just walk back upstairs. Instead I walked into the room and opened a cupboard, grabbing a glass.
'Don't look him in the eyes!' my brain commanded. 'Look everywhere but at him. You don't want to make him more mad!'
I kept my eyes trained on the floor as I reached around him and turned on the faucet, mumbling "Excuse me."
As soon as my cup was filled I stared chugging down the water.
"Sam what's wrong?" Luke asked.
The water went down the wrong way in my throat and I started having a cough attack, trying to get it out of my lungs.
Luke put a hand on my shoulder while the other one rubbed my back. "Sam, it's okay. Just breathe Sammy Girl. Yer okay."
"Ya *cough* ain't mad *cough cough* at me?" I asked.
Luke looked confused. "Hu? No Sam. I ain't mad at ya. Why would ya think that?"
I was finally getting control of my breathing. " 'cause I wouldn't tell ya why I was upset."
Luke wrapped his arm around me and hugged me against him. "Darlin' I ain't mad. I knew ya didn't want to tell me so I respected that and left ya alone so ya could get yer thoughts together."
My cheeks flushed. "Oh. Sorry Daddy."
Luke squatted down a little so we were eye level. "It's fine. Just can ya promise me something?"
I nodded.
"If ya think I'm mad at you, can we just talk it out instead of ya avoiding me?" He asked.
I nodded again and hugged him. "I'm sorry Daddy."
"It's okay Sammy Girl," Luke told me, kissing the top of my head. "Now what were ya upset about?"
"I-I don't wanna meet Jordan and Kris," I confessed.
"Honey, why not?"
"What if they don't like me?" I whispered. "What if they think I'm only here for yer money and fame?"
Luke hugged me closer. "Sweetheart, they ain't gonna think that at all!"
"How do ya know?"
"Because I have known these girls their whole lives. They wouldn't think nothin' like that. They are gonna love you baby girl, I promise."
"Okay," I sighed.
"Good! Now do ya want something to eat?" Luke asked.
