The Beginning || Station Zero
There were two things Lance never expected to happen in his life. One being his obsession for sappy chick flicks and the second?
Meeting Keith.
The boy was a walking, talking ball of undeniable rage and yet somehow Lance couldn't help but feel somewhat drawn to the brooding teen. Something about the Mullet, fingerless gloves, and bad attitude peaked the boy's interests.
He would get to the bottom of it, even if it took the rest of his life.

"I'm telling you," Lance held up his open hand and pointed it across the table at the amber-eyed Pidge. Her short hair framing her face and large glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. It was hard to believe she was a few years younger than Lance and Hunk, seeing how she seemed to be quite a bit smarter, "The second Lord of the Rings was far superior to the first. I mean think about it!" The small girl only snorted and set her strawberry milk down on the table in front of her.
"You must have hit your head. There is no comparing to the first, Lance," she chuckled, her eyes sparkling at the challenge. If the small girl wasn't anything else, she was set in her ways. Lance had lost before he'd even gotten a chance to fight. Hunk cleared his throat to their side and set his tray down next to Pidge.
"Lord of the rings is great and all," he said, drawing out the last word a little longer than he probably should have, "but let's talk about this new kid that your parents are taking in this summer. What was his name again?" Lance let out a groan and dropped his head down onto the lunch table below him. Why did every conversation seem to lead back to this one?
"I think it was Kade or something like that," Pidge said in amusement, sipping her milk once more. Lance looked over at the two teens across the table from him before slowly sitting up.
"His name is Keith," he grumbled lightly and poked lazily at his sandwich in a pout. Lance vaguely remembered the conversation between his parents. A family friend was looking for somewhere to send a troubled teen for the summer away from a big city and asked his parents. He wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea but he really didn't have a say in it.
"I still don't get it," Lance let out a breath and looked up from his food, "I got kicked out of my room so some troublemaker can play chicken and crash somewhere else for the summer. Like I love Mikey and all but he can't pick up his things for the life of him. He's worse than me."
Pidge cringed at the thought.
"I think it will be good for you," Hunk shrugged lightly and took a giant bite of his turkey sandwich, crumbs spilling over his lips as he seemed to sink in satisfaction, "I'm going to California for most the summer and Pidge will be at the science nerd camp thing. At least this way you'll actually have someone to hang out with."
"Institute for Engineering and Design," Pidge corrected and rested her elbows on the table, locking eyes with Lance, "and the big guys right. You can't just lock yourself in the basement all summer and cry over those cringey movies of yours. It's pathetic."
Lance gasped overdramatically, "I'll have you know, Legally Blonde is only the best movies ever created." Pidge snorted leaving Lance to wallow in self-pity.
"Just look on the bright side, man," Hunk grinned, his sandwich disappearing from existence quicker than Lance could comprehend, "maybe you could actually change this guy or something. You could be, like," he paused, a grin stretching across his features, "his best friend."
