Uhmmm!!
Whats on my mind today?
This morning I woke up with the word Customs in my head.
Lets see what it means;
Customs; the official department that administers and collects the duties, levied by a government on imported goods.
( google dictionary) or
Custom, habit, practice mean an established way of doing things.
( www.dictionary.com)
Yes this word Customs has some people, agencies or government taking advantage or using it liberally.
My experience with customs ( not so good, not ever!!!!)
About 20 years ago, I went overseas, had a beautiful holiday to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Along the way, you buy stuff, and one was a stop over at Murano in venice, where we bought some gorgeous hand blown glass. A treat for me, and also special to mark the occasion. You also get encouraged, as we can ship it off to you, just in time for when you get home.
Wow!!! I thought. But they forgot on purpose, to tell me, that Customs will nab you, and will be waiting for you too.
Customs, held my glassware up for ransom, until I paid the $400 +++ to release it. Being such a special purchase I had no choice but agree. Of cause Murano, forgot to mention this, otherwise there would have been no Sales!!!!
Back to my friend Customs.
My daughter wanted to send her penfriend in Venice a gift for her birthday. We expressed it from Australia, to get to milano, and you guessed it, Customs took a hold of it. The sending and recieving of an innocent gift shattered, for two 12 year olds. After txts, phonecalls, and emails, I was able to explain to the mother of the penfriend, how to try and retrieve it. Post office here said, yes good ole Customs. Especially bad in Italy, as they are broke, and will find any excuse to make money. I was soooo annoyed with Customs, cursing them too. Yes I get it that we need our boarders protected and controlled, but really??? With all the xray machines and sniffer dogs, I'm sure I would have already been arrested, if my parcels were dodgy, you recon🤔🤥
Customs lighten up!!!!
P.s as I was writing this post, a change of hearts ♥️ ♥️♥️
My words, ESP- hit them in the head, Ha Ha!!, and the parcel to the penfriend has been released.
Finally, a happy ending, but I'm still not convinced with the word Customs.
