Aro's hands clasped together, face devoid of emotion, seemingly deep in thought. Edward's cautious gaze remained pinned to the ancient vampire; it would be very unwise to let his guard down in Aro's presence, given how unpredictable the man could be. The Cullen found himself inwardly suppressing his gift, for fear of accidentally seeping into the dark labyrinth that was the Volturi King's mind.
Bella clung tightly to her boyfriends arm, fearing what the circle of Volturi guards around her would do, should she move a muscle. The human knew well that the Volturi's moral compass differed greatly compared to that of the Cullens. These vampires held no adoration or respect for humans, and fed from them on a regular basis - to them, she was nothing more than food.
"Carlisle failed to inform me that another vampire had been on his territory," Aro spoke wistfully, as if in a trance, red irises following something that no-one else could see. A small, unnerving smile arrived on Aro's features, "Ah, I see...your friend, she isn't a part of your coven...she's interesting," Aro smiled slightly, it was almost a grimace. Alice shared a knowing glance with her brother, as he peered at her over his shoulder," The nomad passed through Carlisle's territory not long ago, am I right?"
Edward swallowed thickly,"Yes..."
The atmosphere shifted, the room falling deathly silent; the only sound coming from the thumping of Bella's heart as it raced in her chest.
"I'd like to meet her,"Aro concluded. The Cullen male was smart enough to know what was meant by that, even without having to use his gift to sieve through his mind. Aro had express his 'interest' in both Alice and himself, many times - their gifts were rare, and therefore desirable, so naturally, he tried to recruit them...and didn't like being told no.
With a few choice words, the trio were dispanded; Alice led the way through the castle, ignoring the numerous pairs of crimson eyes boring through the shadows, at their fleeting forms. Bella peered up at her boyfriend's face in a mixture of confusion and worry; who the hell was this friend?

Callie listlessly swirled the alcohol in her glass, eyes scoping around her analytically. Neon lights flashed and danced rhythmically, illuminating the humans that danced in the centre of the room. She snorted - if you could even call that 'dancing'; sweaty bodies grinding against each other to the blaring music, some making out in the corner while others were basically fucking in the centre. How delightful.
"Hey, Beautiful," The brunette struggled to suppress an eyeroll as she turned to meet the source of the voice. A tall, dark haired stranger leaned against the bar top, emerald green eyes tracing her form. He was actually quite attractive...for a mortal," Has anyone ever told you that you have pretty eyes?"
Callie snickered, taking a sip of her drink; chocolate brown contact lenses were currently concealing a pair of ravenous, jet black irises...if only he knew. The vampire turned to eye the male coyly, as he chuckled sheepishly, scratching the nape of his neck,"Yeah...that was a pretty shitty line."
"Nah, it was...cute,"With that he perked up slightly," I'm Callie."
"Mark,"He replied with a blinding smile, displaying a set of pearl white teeth. The brunette nodded slightly, downing the contents of her cup. Stepping up close to the human, she picked up on how his heart jumped at the close proximity. How adorable - predictable.
Mark found himself entranced by her eyes, watching as the pupils dilated and constricted as she spoke,"Come outside with me? I need fresh air."

Callie groaned as her phone sounded in her back pocket; the brunette tore her fangs from Mark's throat, licking her blood coated lips, fishing her phone from her back pocket,"Eddie, what trouble have you gotten yourself into now?"
Edward chuckled down the reciever, but the nervous edge to his voice didn't go unnoticed,"Hi Callie, that's actually why I'm calling you...where are you right now?"
"Well, I'm kind of in the middle of something, so can we make this quick?"
Edward sighed," To cut a long story short: The Volturi know you exist, and they're probably coming after you, so you'll need to keep moving."
Callie's brows furrowed, snapping her victims neck before tossing him aside; the limp corpse slid slowly down the alley wall. The brunette stayed silent as Edward continued," I read Aro's mind, he's planning on sending the Guard after you soon."
"Let him - I've always enjoyed a good chase."
"Just...be careful, okay? The Volturi are powerful."
"Yes...as am I," Callie smiled playfully, before hanging up.
This was going to be fun.
