Callie and Demetri fell to the ground with a thud, bodies entangled in a mess of arms and legs as they both scrambled to their feet. The blond took a quick look around him, trying to gather his bearings - they weren't even close to Forks anymore...

The brunette was quick to her feet, only managing to sprint a few paces before the blond launched his full body-weight on top of her. Her powers glitched, the pair flickering in and out of place before landing a few feet away in a heap.

Callie huffed," You and your entourage are a bunch of jackasses, you know that?!"

Demetri rolled his eyes with a sardonic smile, leaning back on his knees," If you would stop running and talk to me for once, I wouldn't have to bring my coven mates with me to catch you now would I?"

"What do you want from me?!"

"I don't want anything from you, but you're my mate! Aro wants to speak with you, he's willing to go to great lengths to meet you but his patience is only going to stretch so thin."

"I don't want to be a part of your bloody coven! If I did I would have hopped, skipped and jumped through the castle by now!" Callie rubbed her temples as the need to feed began to fester in her mind. Noticing her discomfort, Demetri's brow furrowed," I need to feed, my powers won't work until I do - where the hell are we anyway?"

"You tell me, you brought us here," Demetri shrugged, gesturing around him. The pair stood in the centre of a clearing. The grass was unhealthily dry, crispy even, and an odd shade of yellow. Scattered around the outskirts lay heavy stones, all of similar shapes.

Callie found herself staring at the crumbled remains of a statue, the solid stone long since cracked and fell away, leaving only chunks of the abdomen scattered around it's feet. It's decapitated head peered back at her with empty granite eyes, and she felt herself begin to panic.

Flames swirled from the torches, long pillars sticking out of the Earth. Blood-curdling screams and cries filled the air, as the tension brewed to a boil.

A male looked around the circle frantically, cradling his crushed arm to his chest while he sobbed. He could hear the footsteps coming ever closer but couldn't tell as to where they came from. The slow, light footsteps circled him, almost sizing him up. Finally she revealed herself.

"Don't do this," He pleaded, eyes wide with tears. A low, rumbling chuckle interrupted his feeble attempts to cheat death. Darius stepped out from the gloom, hands clasped in front of his face as he shook his head.

"Afton, Afton, Afton...I treated you like a brother, and this is how you repay me?" Darius sauntered over to stand next to the woman," My dear Calista is my pride and joy, and yet you tried to take her away from me."

"Her name is not Calista, you bastard!" Afton spat through gritted teeth," That is my sister - and she always will be my sister, no matter how many times you rewire her mind to believe otherwise!"

Darius lunged towards the younger vampire, catching his neck in his grasp, heaving him upwards off the ground. Afton flailed against his grip feebly; Darius smirked," You have no idea what she is capable of - the power - and you never will."

Darius raised his fist, prepared to deliver the final crushing blow, only for his elbow joint to be tugged back with enough force to spin his entire body around. In surprise, Afton was tossed to the Earth like a rag doll, skidding across the dirt. Darius' red orbs widened considerably," Calista -"

His head was sent flying off, soaring into the air to land at Afton's feet. The latter could only stare perplexed as his sister's chest heaved, face consumed with raw, unadulterated rage. For the first time in his life, he was truly scared of her.

"Calista?" Demetri's worried voice shook her from her daze. His hands cupped her face, thumbs swiping away the venom-tears that she hadn't even realised had began to fall," Mia Cara, what's wrong?"

She took a step back, shuffling out of his grip," I - I have a brother."

The blond quirked an eyebrow, blinking in confusion," What?"

" I had a brother - At least, I think I did - I must have," Callie rambled, hands flying up to tangle in her brown locks. Names tumbled around in her head like nickels in a drier. Afton - Darius - Charmian...

"You're not making any sense..."

"It sounds crazy but I sometimes remember things about my old life, with my old coven - they're only flashes, and most of them don't make sense but - I had a brother, his name was...Afton?"

"Afton?" Demetri enquired, double-checking that he'd heard the name right. Looking now, he could kind of see the resemblance, however faint, but having now met them both, they were nothing alike. Perhaps he was biased since Calista was his mate, but he never got along with Afton in all the years he'd known him; he was too quiet, rarely spoke unless one of the Masters pressed him to. He clung to Chelsea like a life-line - come to think of it, it was rare to see him alone.

"You say that as if that name sounds familiar..." Calista narrowed her eyes slightly, black irises watching him expectantly. Demetri clicked his tongue; she was observant at least," Did you know him?"

"I do know him, yes - he joined the Volturi a few centuries ago," Demetri watched the realisation flash on her face.

"He's alive?" He nodded, Callie grabbed hold of his arm , pulling him to her firmly," Take me to him."

"...ow."
