"Ah, I see..." Aro hummed, releasing Demetri's palm from his grasp. His ancient mind relayed the events over and over, trying to unwind the tangled memories to make sense of it all. A telepath, who could not only invade the mind...but control it," This Calista is powerful...compulsion and telepathy are incredibly useful tools – why, she's a marvel in herself..."
"What shall we do with her, then?" Caius snapped," Clearly, she's a threat – if she can overpower our Guard so easily, then who's to say she won't come after us?"
"The Cullens seem to trust her," Marcus added monotonously; Aro's head slowly turned to eye his brother, curious as to what he would say. Marcus never seemed to have an opinion when it came to most affairs concerned with the Volturi – or at least, if he did he didn't voice them in any way," If Carlisle saw the woman as a threat, he wouldn't stand idle."
Aro nodded, mulling over his words," That is true... it would be a shame to destroy such potential before it has even had the chance to flourish."
Demetri stood in the centre of the throne room, hands clasped behind his back politely. Although his face remained blank, his mind raced; he couldn't get Callie out his thoughts. It was peculiar, she was a stranger...and yet, he felt like he knew her. The blond noticed Marcus' bland gaze fall onto him, head tilting ever so slightly to the right; for the first time in the hundreds of years that the tracker had known him, the Leader seemed to gain a bit of life, shifting in his throne. His movements and trained gaze didn't go unnoticed by Aro," Brother?"
In wordless reply, Marcus simply out-stretched his hand to his fellow-ruler; Aro clasped it in both of his, eyes glazing over slightly as he absorbed all the information that Marcus had to give. A creepy smile slowly grew on his lips, no doubt pleased by whatever he had learned. The raven-haired vampire's burgundy irises landed on the tracker, clapping his hands loudly in front of him with glee," What an interesting turn of events!"
Demetri's dark orbs flitted briskly around the room, taking in the faces of his coven mates. Felix held a look of utter confusion, hidden from the masters by a heavy blanket of shadows. As always, the twins didn't care - if they did, they certainly did a flawless job of concealing it. They appeared bored, above anything else, faces holding little to no emotion at all.
And then, there was Heidi. She grinned coquettishly, violet orbs all but flashing in the low light. Demetri could feel the caress of her gift trying to worm its way under his skin...but for once, he found himself able to resist. Whether it was her scent or her presence, he had no clue, but the most of her power just seemed to repel him.
"Our dearest Calista seems to have taken a liking to you, as much as you have her," Aro stated simply, slowly making his way down the marble steps towards the tracker. The heels of his Italian leather shoes clacked as he went, which in the completely silent room almost seemed too loud," She's il tuo vero compagno, my boy - your true mate."
He could feel the blades from Heidi's eyes on the back of his head, burning into his skull. Demetri simply swallowed, as Aro continued," True mates are very rare, our kind is exceptionally lucky to encounter such a thing - this could prove to be so much more helpful in catching her."
"What shall we do with the girl? If she so refuses to join us then she will be a threat," Caius snapped, eyes narrowing to slits in irritation to his brother's passiveness," And the Volturi do not give second chances."
Aro rolled his eyes knowing full well that his face was out of Caius view, before smiling widely," We cannot function with 'what if's' , dear brother," The raven-haired vampire turned his attention to the Tracker, replaying the delicious information he'd acquired," My, my, she is a powerful one... I'd like to meet her."
"Felix, Jane, Alec," Aro spoke monotonously, as if deep in thought," Please accompany Demetri here in collecting Calista - do make sure she is unharmed - and bring her home."
"Yes, master."
With that, the four dispatched in a flurry of black and grey cloaks. Aro stared at the place where Demetri previously stood, turning on his heels to face his brothers. Caius' features held a look of complete and utter disgust, " If this woman is so dangerous...why send out four of our best guards? Felix and Demetri failed in their attempts to capture her, is it wise to give them another chance?"
"Jane and Alec are reliable, my dear brother – if Calista tries to escape, she will be immobilised...brute force isn't an option when it can be turned against you at the drop of a hat."
"Assuming she does get brought here, what then? We just hope she doesn't influence us all? How are we supposed to prevent her from invading our thoughts and reprogramming our minds?!"
Aro smirked darkly," How do we ensure loyalty, Caius? We give her an incentive – a reason to stay..."
The three leaders turned their heads, towards the farthest corner of the throne room. Afton stood hand-in-hand with Chelsea at the edge of the shadows. Aro nodded to the latter, a knowing smile on his lips; her lips pursed together, giving a brief nod in response to his wordless request.
"Why would she want to leave when her mate is here? I think we could do some tinkering of our own..."
