"Who was that Nomad?" Emmett inquired, arms crossed across his chest. After the encounter with the trio of wild vampire's, the Cullen's were on high alert should they return. The last thing they wanted was another vampire on the prowl, who could potentially harm Bella...

"I don't know, but I don't think she meant any harm - after all, she disappeared just as quickly as she arrived," Carlisle stated simply, gaze falling to Edward. His son's face knitted together in confusion, as he leaned back against the couch cushions, Bella eyeing him perplexed," What is it?"

"I know her - that vampire, her name is Calista..."

Esme and Carlisle shared a brief glance in bewilderment.  As far as they were aware, there was no 'Calista' - or if there was, they'd never met her before. However, given how secretive Edward tended to be, it was no surprise that he would have memories stashed away for only him and him alone to be know about; this typically including those involved in said endeavours.

Edward sieved through Carlisle's mind; if only he'd been present at the time of her arrival, he could have distinguished why the brunette had suddenly appeared on his family's territory," She's never ventured here before, but I think I know why she's moving so quickly."

Bella couldn't help the little bubbles of jealously begin to form in the pit of her stomach. Given that Edward's own family didn't know about this vampire, that was enough reason for concern. She awkwardly fidgeted with her fingers, linking and unlinking them in her lap. Rosalie noticed, but said nothing, a rapidly fleeing smirk twitching the corner of her lip up into a smirk briefly.

"When I spoke with Aro, he read my mind and saw Callie - her abilities caught his interest, and now he's trying to recruit her," Edward explained, butterscotch eyes staring blankly at the coffee table," She doesn't want to be a part of a coven regardless, so she's running from them."

"How do you know her?" Bella peeped, biting her bottom lip nervously. Rosalie rolled her eyes as she felt the paranoia flow from the human like tidal waves; did she not trust her brother in the slightest? Unbelievable.

"She's a good friend - not that long ago, before I met you Bella, I was a monster," Edward's butterscotch eyes found her brown ones. She visibly relaxed at the revelation of 'friend' but listened intently," I went off the deep end and I didn't think I could come back, but then she appeared."

Flashback: 1927

Edward's fangs tore into the woman's throat, uncaring as splotches of crimson blood stained his previously crisp white shirt. He groaned hungrily as his prey's cries muted from sodden whimpers into deathly silence. Drained dry, he let her corpse flop to the concrete ground with a dull thud.

"Very sloppy," A feminine voice quipped. His head snapped round to face the source of the voice, vibrant red eyes seeming almost black in the dull light. At the entrance to the alleyways stood a woman, head cocked slightly to the side as she surveyed him and his work," It's almost as if you want to be noticed."

"Who are you?" He grumbled lowly in his throat. His gaze followed her as she sauntered to him, block heels clacking on the cobbled ground rhythmically. The sheen of her embroidered slip dress glinted as she passed the streetlights, before coming to stand toe to toe with the younger vampire.

"Never mind who I am, what you need to be concerned about is - this shirt is now more red than it is white, so there is no way you will be able to get around undetected," She chastised bluntly," I've watched you these past few nights, tearing into people like they're paper bags - that needs to stop."

"You are not going to give me orders -"

"They're not orders - that was a warning," He found himself taking a few steps back as she pressed on," You running around her like a wild animal is putting the species at stake, and I for one am not going to end up burning in a fire because of one insolent child who won't stop while they're ahead."

"I am a wild animal - our species are built to kill, we kill to live -"

"Cut it with the angst bullshit!" She interjected, one arm rapidly swinging round to pin his torso to the brick wall, with one hand. Edward hissed, only for her to knee him in the crotch, sending him into a heap on the floor," I'm not telling you this out of the goodness of my heart! I've seen too many people die because of their own idiotic mistakes!"

"Leave me alone!"

She ignored him completely, her shorter stature towering over his seated form. Each time he tried to get up or otherwise flee, she would shove him back down with ease, which grew increasingly aggravating," This is not the way to do things - I have over five centuries to you, so take my advice - you probably have someone who cares about you, that doesn't want to see you pried apart and thrown into a fire pit."

Edward stilled, flashes of his coven flying into his head. The carnal urge to kill for once wasn't at the foreground of his mind, instead being replaced by Carlisle - and Esme - and everything he remembered from his human life. His crimson irises slowly fell onto the crumbled corpse no more than six feet away; sheer horror overcame his features," What have I done..."

Callie heaved a sigh; he sounded so much like a child. He practically was - he couldn't have been any older than eighteen, regardless of vampire years; he was still mentally a teenager, clearly unsure about what he wanted, like most vampires. The brunette offered him a hand, helping him onto his feet, brushing off dust from his dress jacket," Never mind that now, whatever happened has happened - we can't change that, but what we can do is get you cleaned up."

He nodded slightly in agreement," What's your name?"

She smiled slightly," Call me Calista."

To be continued...

AN: Hi everyone! Sorry this chapter is quite short. I wanted to expand on Edward and Callie's relationship as I felt like I just kind of ghosted over it at the beginning.
