Arthur was devestated. Merlin had been missing for five months, and Camelot did not have the resources to expand the search. Although Merlin was a clumsy idiot at times, Arthur quite liked having him around. Plus, when Merlin was gone, Arthur had to put up with George. Arthur would rather have died a thousand times than listen to another one of George's brass jokes.
In all seriousness, the young King was worried. He was worried that Merlin had been kidnapped to get to Arthur. He was worried that Merlin was being tortured. He was worried that Merlin was already dead. No. He mustn't think like that.
A voice was nagging at the back of Arthur's head: What if Merlin went willingly? What if he hates me? What if, all the times I called him an idiot, he thought I meant it? What if Morgana was using him, controlling him? Arthur couldn't bare the thought of it. He would search through all the Five Kingdoms to get his best friend back. But Arthur would rather listen to one of George's brass jokes than admit to that.
