Charlotte wakes with a blasting light hitting her eyes. She moans with annoyance and rolls over so her face is into the pillow.
"Morning Ms Hayes." Minnie says warmly as she continues opening the curtains in Charlottes room.
"Do you always have to open them like that, it is so very aggressive." Charlotte moans again.
"Well a young lady like yourself should be up by eight o'clock everyday. Not 10, so count yourself lucky that I don't wake you up then." Minnie says chuckling to herself.
Ignoring Minnie, she continued "I would like to wear my riding attire today, Alex and I planned a ride." Charlotte explained with a smile.
"Could you retrieve it for me please?" Charlotte asks as she stands up from her bed and walks over to her mirror beside the window to brush her hair.
"Of course Ms Hayes." Minnie replies going to Charlottes closet.
It is only then, when she reaches the window, that she sees two figures on horses riding across the bridge, exiting the castle.
Oh that blasted girl! Alex promised me a ride! Not her! How unfair! Alex doesn't belong with her, he belongs with me! Rightfully me! Not with a peasant girl like Jane! This is not right at all! Charlotte thinks angrily.
Something will have to be done about this. Perhaps if I talk with his father, I know how much he hates him hanging out with her! An evil smirk appears on Charlottes face as she conjures up a plan, just as Minnie returns into the bedroom with her riding attire.
"Change of plan Minnie, just the green dress will do." Charlotte says, and off scurries Minnie again.
Charlotte returns to her dressing table and continues with brushing her hair.
She had created this whole fantasy in her head, of her and Alex, of her being Queen. Her living in pathetic Lily's bedroom! Oh how wonderful the thought.
Her mother always wanted this for her. To marry Alex and become Queen at last! It is why she is sent here so often. Her mother didn't care for Lily nor her "Oh so brilliant son." Becoming friends with Lily was her only way into the Castle.
Charlottes mother, Vivienne was a beautiful woman who managed to woo anyone into getting what she wanted.
Her first husband, died 20 years ago, she almost lost everything, her big house, her clothes, her servants. This was all due to her husbands gambling addiction which led him into debt with so many people. So when he died that debt moved to her.
She couldn't let everything she owned leave her, she couldn't, it would have killed her. So she married a Lord and befriended the Queen. She worked her way in there. It was not easy but Vivienne was sneaky, and desperately driven by power and money.
She had a child with her new husband, Charlotte, and swore to herself that she would be her way of getting to stay in the castle.
They were all just pawns in her game of power.
Thats how Charlotte had been raised, to view everyone as a pawn to get where she wanted in life.
Although she had grown to Alex, loved him like a child could, but Jane always got in her way...
She had to find someway to get rid of her.
