Jemma wrapped a roll of gauze onto Spyen's bicep. Spyen didn't know that she was shot twice. Once in the shoulder and the other in the arm. Jemma started to tape the gauze, "You're very lucky, Spyen. If they hadn't used that clotting agent on your wounds..." Jemma's words faded as she worked, "Well, let's just say I'm glad they did." Spyen knew that she would have died before the team could have gotten her back on the Bus, "I recommend a week of solid bed rest."
Spyen looked down at her wounds, "Bed rest? Where's that in the SHIELD handbook? And I've read that book at least six times."
Spyen started to pull on her tank top and gave a deep grunt in response.
"Whoa, stop it! You're going to rupture your sutures."
Spyen had gotten the fabric over her head and she looked at Jemma as she gently shoved her arms through the straps, "I won't be going on missions for a while, but I'm okay, Jemma. There was a doctor." Spyen's voice went down as she mentioned her father.
Jemma looked down, "What was he like?"
Spyen shook her head with slight anger, "He was out of his damn mind."
Spyen let her words drop when Skye entered the area they were in, "Hey."
Skye gave a smile, "Hey, yourself. You look better. Uh, Mission prep in five, cargo hold."
Spyen let out a breath she didn't know she was holding but nodded her head.
"Right. Roger that." Jemma's words were tight and awkward."
There was a moment of awkward silence before Skye caught onto the conversation.
"Talking about our dad?"
Jemma felt the need to defend herself; "I'm sorry, it must be so—"
"Messed up?" Skye was showing the anger for both of the sisters.
"I was going to use the off-colour version of "messed up," but it felt inappropriate."
Spyen grit her teeth, "Oh, it's appropriate."
Skye added to the conversation, "Our dad, Ward, the Obelisk, the city—It's all messed up." Skye was trying to push her anger down, "And...I just can't shake this vibe that something really bad is about to happen."
Spyen let out a small scoff, "You mean like somebody getting shot? I got that covered already, so you can lose that vibe."
Jemma gave a small smile at the younger sister; the scientist had missed the humor that the young agent had emitted.
Jemma gave a nod, "That's right. Nothing but positive thoughts from here on out." Jemma gave a smile. She knocked on the table in front of her twice and let out a chuckle, "That's not wood, is it?" Jemma took her tray of medical supplies before leaving the area. Spyen and Skye gave each other a glance before they simultaneously gave two knocks on the table. Spyen knocked for the future of the team as Skye knocked for herself. After the sisters glanced at each other, they walked out of the second level of the plane and huddled in the cargo hold with the other agents.
Spyen stood next to Skye and Trip and Coulson came into the area for mission prep. Coulson approached his agents, "Here's what we know. HYDRA's on the move. They have the Obelisk and an expert who knows how to use it. We can't let that happen, obviously."
"Use it how?" Spyen glanced over at Hunter; she hadn't seen the agent in a while.
"Based on our last Intel, there's something very powerful inside it. A weapon."
