Chappie 14

JEONGHAN POV

The false rumour of me going out with Soohee soon got cleared up. Hyunra and I didn't talk about our conflict but we just automatically went back to being friends.

I'm glad.

HYUNRA POV

Things were pretty weird as we just started talking again like nothing ever happened between us.

Seungcheol kept bugging me until I told him what happened. I realised how childish I was when I said the conflict out loud myself.

Seungcheol was surprisingly calm about the past issue and just smiled at me understandingly.

A few weeks later, Jeonghan started going back to work as I was already getting pretty used to this place and its surroundings.

Sadly, Seungcheol also had to go back to his career. I told him to go, I didn't want to be a burden and hold him back from doing what he loves.

I will miss him terribly. I hope he comes back soon again, although I know his tour will take forever.

And thus, once again... I was all alone at home. I really want to call someone to talk to, maybe Jeonghan's friends? But they're probably all busy and it'll be awkward to suddenly talk to them.

It was going to be 7pm soon and I wanted to kill the leftover time before any ways I could. So I went out for a walk in the same park I went to with Jeonghan.

I looked at the spot where Jeonghan and I were at and I can't believe Jeonghan has tolerated me for almost a month already.

"Oh! Aren't you Hyunra? That girl whom Jeonghan talked about so much?" A lady infront of me pointed at me. She had a really irritating looking smile on her face.

How does she know me? Jeonghan? She knows him? Wait, ain't she that lady at the cafe with Jeonghan last time? Soohee was it?

"I was about to look for you through Jeonghan anyways, I have something to tell you. Look, I'm gonna get to the point." Her fake-smile mask immediately dropped when she got near me.

Geez, what's up with her? Did I do something? I'm pretty sure this is the first time I'm talking to her.

"Stay away from my Jeonghan. He's mine. Don't even think that you can have him, you don't know what kind of power I have. I have been with Jeonghan way longer you, you peasant." She smirked at me.

She has no idea about the things between me and Jeonghan does she?

I felt my blood boiling after getting insulted like that and for some reason, I had a huge urge to slap her arrogant and over-powdered face.

"You have no idea about my relationship with Jeonghan and you can't tell me what to do. Get out of my way." I gave her a massive eyeroll and calmed myself down the best I could.

She glared at me and raised her hands as if she was about to hit me.

I shut my eyes immediately and my body tensed by instinct. I expected the slap to land already but it didn't.

I opened my eyes slowly and saw her someone else holding back her hands mid-air.

Then I heard a gasp from that arrogant hoe before she drew back her hand from Jeonghan's grasp.

"Oh! I was going to dust off that disgusting insect off her hair but it seems to have flown away." She giggled anxiously but she sounded like a dying hyena instead.

Jeonghan laughed dryly and nodded his head at her. Does she have any shame at all? Lying so easily like that.

She seemed to change to a sickly sweet basic bitch when she talked to Jeonghan, I almost gagged.

"I see. Well then we should get going," he said and dragged along with him before Soohee could say anything.

We both walked far away from Soohee before talking again.

"Why are you here?" I asked Jeonghan.

"Going home obviously. I wanted to grab some food for you, I heard that a new food store opened nearby and also heard the food's good," he said.

"Sorry that Soohee's such a fake. Sorry that I couldn't do anything else to defend you, she's the daughter of a rich CEO and unfortunately I'm working under that rich CEO. I'll lose my job if I acted rashly." he said apologetically.

"Nah it's alright. I'm glad I don't have a painful mark on my face right now thanks to you." I said and smiled at him.

We both walked back home quietly and it was only when we were about to reach the house, I noticed that he was still holding my hands.

I slowly slipped my hands away sneakily, hoping that he doesn't mention it.

I think he definitely noticed the awkward hand movement.

He was staring at me with sad eyes while I tried to unlock the door without exploding into glitter because he was staring at me so much.

I felt so jittery as Jeonghan stood close to me.

I unlocked the door clumsily and then shoved Jeonghan into the house nervously without looking at him.

"Jeonghan, I don't want to stay home all day and grow fat. Can I go back to doing my job? I had a job right? I don't wanna be a burden to you." I asked.

"Actually...you don't have one. You were trying to pass the bar exam. But now that you..." He grew quiet slowly.

"Oh...I was trying to pass the bar exam? I see. I can't do that anymore now can I? Do you think I can get another job that isn't too complicated?" I tried to say as casually as I could hoping that he doesn't hear the wavering in my voice.

I felt like breaking down again. It's like my previous life was just thrown away without my permission and now I've got to build my life all over again.

I felt so suppressed by my illness. I couldn't do this, I couldn't do that. I don't know this, I don't know that.

Soohee was right in this case, I'm not the same Hyunra before and I do not know anything about Jeonghan. She's right, she probably knows him way better than I do.

But I hate to see myself cry, I hate seeing myself weak like I was in the past. When Raehwa, my step-sister use to...

My heart thud painfully loud against my chest, my scar across my neck seemed to stand out and glow with heat even more than usual. I unconsciously placed my hand on my scar.

I gulped at the thought of the things that she did to me.

Yes, I do know much more about my past... But I'm not ready to tell it yet.
