Chuck had turned up just before lunch was due to end.

The second he'd arrived home, Cas, having already been cleaned up, had gone straight to his room without saying a word.

Several minutes later, a soft knock at the door had brought Lucifer and Anna, Cas' eldest sibling and only sister, into the room: both bearing burgers and an armful of movies, which they gently set aside and scooped him into a hug. Shortly afterwards, they left to allow him some space.

Cas felt as if he didn't deserve them.

He didn't deserve their time.

He didn't deserve their affection.

To make matters worse, Cas was almost certain that his sister had been scheduled to work today, and wondered whether she'd cancelled on his account. He hoped not. It was bad enough that he was screwing up his own life, he didn't need to sabotage hers too.

Shoving the thought aside, Cas peeled off his trench coat and began searching through the variety of films that now sat patiently at the bottom of his bed: all of which, conveniently, happened to be some of his favourites.

In the end, he decided on The Avengers.

However, before he even opened the case, he had a more important matter to attend. First things first: he needed his phone. Searching through his pockets, Cas pulled out the first item his hand landed on.  It was an empty paper bag.

He paused.

He regarded the disheveled item in hollow silence. Then, without really registering what he was doing, he screwed the bag up into a tiny paper ball and hurled it across the room with far more force than was necessary.  The ruined bag bounced lightly off the wall with an unsatisfactory scrunch, and dropped limply onto the floor.

Cas glared at it.

Why did he even bother? Yet again, the medication had failed to actually do its job. It was nothing but a useless waste of money.

It took Cas several minutes to calm himself back down. Once he had, he delved into his pocket for a second time and, happily, drew out his phone. With a few quick taps, he opened a new conversation.

Castiel:  I wanted to thank you again for earlier.

Impala67:  Don't worry about it.  How are you now, anyway?

Cas was shocked at Dean's immediate response; he'd only expected to receive something of a reply after the school day had ended.

Castiel:  I'm okay.  Anna and Lucifer brought me food and movies.  And aren't you supposed to be in class?

Impala67:  Wait, who's Anna?

Impala67:  And I am in class.  But it's boring.  Besides, I'd much rather be messaging you.

Castiel:  Anna is my older sister, she's nineteen so she doesn't attend school anymore.

Impala67:  Ah, okay, fair enough.

Impala67:  Do you think you'll still come tomorrow?  I think Charlie's decided on going to the movies.  Don't worry if you're not up to it though.

Impala67:  Or if you don't want to.

Castiel:  I can't, my Father wants me to stay home for the weekend, just so he can check on me if he needs to.

Impala67:  Okay.  Well, I could always come over and keep you company instead?  I'm not sure if I can take watching Sam and Gabriel make puppy eyes at each other the entire time.
