"We're here to see Alex Mills."Tuesday had come around pretty fast and Dean, still nervous about going to a hospital, had brought Cas along for emotional support, which he refused to admit out loud.
The receptionist typed a few quick words into his computer and smiled. "Alex is in room 73B. You her friends? She hasn't had many visitors."
"Uh, yeah," Dean nodded, squeezing Cas' hand, "We're friends."
The receptionist smiled warmly and pointed them in the right direction.

Having taken the lead, Sam arrived at the room first and knocked several times before walking in.
The room was small and dull. A few chairs had been shoved against the whitewashed walls, no windows or pictures present to give the space some life. A hospital bed stretched into the centre of the room, cradling a girl. She was pale and perhaps a little thin, but she was quite pretty; her sleek black hair had been neatly braided and swept to the side, revealing her gently closed eyes and peaceful expression.
Sam cleared his throat as the others entered.
The girl immediately opened her eyes: light blue and fierce. It gave her an almost rugged look that didn't seem to fit with the rest of her. She reminded Sam of his sister. Elsa's eyes also made her seem a little wild and out of place.
"Hi. I'm Sam."
"Alex." The girl's voice was quiet and slightly hostile.
Sam smiled nervously. "These are my sibling," he motioned to the others, "Dean and Elsa. And this," he pointed towards Cas, "Is Dean's boyfriend, Castiel."
Alex nodded.
"Mind if we sit?" Dean eyed the two chairs near the wall.
"Sure."
Dean ignored the girl's tone completely as he dragged up a chair, moving over to share with Cas. Elsa took the second seat; Sam briefly disappearing into the hallway and returning with a third.
An awkward silence followed.
Both Alex and Dean seemed stubbornly content with the quiet, whilst Sam and Cas were trying to think of ways to start a conversation. Elsa just wanted to know what the clunky machines attached to Alex's arms were.
"So, uh," Cas had decided to brave speaking first, "How long have you been in here for?"
"Two weeks."
"That sounds unpleasant—"
"No kidding."
"Right, of course, uh, sorry."
Another silence.
Dean rolled his eyes and stood up. "You know, if you don't want us here, just say. 'Cos I hate hospitals, and I'm more than happy to leave if you'd rather not have the company."
"Dean," Cas hissed, tugging at his arm and trying to pull him back onto the chair.
"What? I'm pretty sure she doesn't want us here. Hell, if I were in her position, I wouldn't want us here."
Cas looked like he was about to protest.
Alex cut him off. "He's right. If you want to leave, leave. I'm not keeping you here. I don't even know you." She folded her arms across her chest.
Dean gave her a curt nod and exited the room, Cas following after him.
Sam sat exactly where he was, his expression a mixture of anger and confusion, both emotions which he chose to direct at his brother. "Will you excuse me a minute?" He asked, "I'll be right back."
