Sam headed out earlier than usual the next morning, leaving Elsa to catch up on sleep whilst he delivered Dean's change of clothes to the Novak household.

Bobby hadn't been too impressed that his eldest had disappeared without warning, and had asked Sam to send his complaints too; on receiving them, Dean had only chuckled.

"Right, we're going out this weekend," Dean stated, leaning across the table, "All of us."

"Oh?" Charlie arced an eyebrow, "And where exactly would we be going?"

"The lakeside."

"The — what?"

"It's not far.  It will be perfect."

Dean had spent the drive to school trying to think of something the group could do that was fun, free and strictly non-school related: for that, lakeside was the perfect.  It was a large, quiet space just outside of town, where small clusters of trees and a sloping grass bank surrounded the tranquil waters.  The ultimate place to watch the stars when the evening turned to night.

"Well, you have my approval."

"Oh good, we have the Queen's consent," Meg mocked, relaxing in her chair.

"Can we ask Anna too?" Gabriel queried.  "Actually, it doesn't matter, I'll invite her regardless."

Elsa tapped Sam on the shoulder. "What about Alex?"

"I don't think she'd be allowed," he said sadly, "But you can try."

Friday evening found the Winchesters at the town shop: Dean stocking up on snacks for Saturday.  He'd already filled the shopping basket with two large bags of M&Ms, several bars of chocolate and a pie.  Sam had added a little fruit, and Elsa had contributed a bag of jelly babies.

"You know other people are bringing food too, right?"  Sam asked, watching as Dean tried to balance a bag of Doritos on top of the large pile already crammed inside the basket.

"Yeah, but I want to make sure we won't run out of snacks."

"I doubt there'll be any danger of that."

"We could always go home and restock if we do," Elsa pointed out.

"No, I want to stay out all night."

"Why, so you can hook up with Cas?" Sam smirked: he was only half joking.

Dean turned a deep shade of red and lost the ability to form a proper sentence; both of his siblings doubled over laughing as he stormed off to pay for their shopping, leaving them to slowly regain the ability to breathe.

They caught up with him in the car, Dean having already turned on the radio to a volume that was far louder than necessary. Clearly, the topic was closed.

~~

Dean had gone straight to the kitchen when they returned home, leaving the food safely in the car as his siblings hurried inside and up the stairs.  He'd also managed to persuade Bobby, who had originally been sceptical about the idea, to let them take several pints of beer.

Elsa and Sam had already called Jody to ask if Alex could come and had received the expected response. The Sheriff had apologised, saying that she'd only recently gotten Alex's doctors to release her from hospital; a decision that the doctors had originally refused, but had changed their minds when Jody had pretty much threatened to press charges.
