Gabriel was first up and, as was the tradition in the Novak household, went and shook his siblings awake which, unsurprisingly, none of them much appreciated.

Groggily, Anna stood up and stretched.  She could barely contain a yawn as, picking her way across the room, she made for the kitchen; she was paying little attention to her steps and was startled when her foot suddenly came down on something unfamiliar and threw her off balance.

Adam Milligan was not impressed.

"Gods, I'm so sorry."

He shrugged a laugh.  "It's fine.  Just not how I was expecting to wake up."

"What, you don't usually have someone treading on your face?"

"Only on Tuesdays," he said sarcastically.

Anna rolled her eyes and, now feeling a little less sleep deprived, helped Adam up off the floor and showed him into the kitchen with the promise of apology pancakes.

A little later into the morning — when the birds had started their second round of songs and, somewhere near by, a stray lawn mower had began grumbling along — Sam finally stirred awake. It didn't take long for him to realise that, every time one of his friends looked at him, they seemed to burst into a fit of private giggles.

He was not amused to discover why.

His hair, reflected clearly in the dormant TV screen, had managed to developed a network of small braids, each secured with a baby elastic band or wildly oversized hair band.  It wasn't difficult to locate the culprit.

"Come on, Samsquash," Gabriel cooed, "You look adorable."

"I can't believe you."

Painstakingly, Sam began unweaving each individual braid in turn, whilst Gabriel not only refused to help, but had taken to complaining that his hard work was never appreciated.  Kevin had seconded this motion and Sam was actually a little surprised, and maybe even impressed, to find out that he had been involved too.

Over the other side of the room, still tucked away against the wall, Cas was attempting to escape from Dean's arms.

"Dean," he grumbled, "Let go.  I want food."

"And I want a kiss."

"No.  Food first.  Anna and Adam made pancakes for everyone."  Cas looked longingly  over to the table where plates were being passed around and the sweet smell from the kitchen wafted temptingly into the room.

"Kisssssss," Dean pleaded, the corners of his lips lifting into a grin that lit his eyes.

There was only one thing for it.

Turning quickly, Cas grabbed Dean by the front of his shirt and hauled him suddenly closer, meeting his lips in a firm, passionate kiss.

It worked.

Dean was caught completely off guard, involuntarily loosening his grip around Cas' waist.

The Novak immediately took advantage of this by pushing himself backwards: out of Dean's arms and onto the carpet where he stood, brushed himself off, and walked away towards the kitchen.  When he reached the door, he turned and threw a wink at Dean, who was blushing furiously.

It had just gone eleven when the Winchesters clambered back out of the Impala and into their home.

"You three have fun?"  Bobby asked, watching as they pulled off their footwear. He hadn't expected them to be home so late, but at least they'd remembered to drop a call to check in.
