This is honestly the sweetest thing I've ever seen. They look like the most perfect family the world has and both Steve and Lithi look years younger.
Steve's mom, and Lithium and Sierra's too, released her children and kissed each of them three times. Once on the forehead and one on each cheek.
"Oh how I've missed this." Lithi whispered.
Small tears rolled down her face. "Missed what?" Sierra asked.
"Everything. Motherly love, family, gentle touch." Lithi confessed.
Everything I've missed out on for 8 months, she's been missing out on for 12 years.
"Well." Mrs. Randle started. "Since I have you back now, I have to fix you back up."
She grabbed Sierra and Lithi's hands and pulled them into another room.
All of us guys were left here, standing awkwardly.
"Most people would be embarrassed to be kissed by their moms." Dally interrupted. (Because awkward silences have feelings 😂)
Steve gave Dallas the evilest look. "You wanna know the truth Dallas?" Steve yelled. "Mom used to do that every time dad beat us or took a knife to us. She even kissed Sierra, who was the route of our troubles. Every time she cried, we would get punished. The day we were dragged apart, dad kept mom from taking Lithi and Sie, threatened her with everything under the sun. Our lives were threatened. Dad said he was going to kill us. After mom took me away, we went to a motel and we both cried all night, for the same reasons and you think I'd be embarrassed?"
Steve sat down on a couch and put his head on his hands. Everyone walked over to Steve to comfort him, but Dally just stool there, dumbstruck.
Soda hugged Steve and Two-bit patted his shoulder.
Steve was so much more broke than any off us ever thought and none of us had the brains to notice.
I can't do this anymore. I can't fight over a girl I hardly know. I lean over to Dally.
"Dally, maybe we should think this through. We don't know her well yet. Let's drop the bet for now." I told him.
"What? No. This is going just great I can use this to my advantage." Dallas exhorted. (I'm surprised this word is in my vocabulary 😂)
"Dally this is not the way!" I whisper, yelled.
"Then you do it your way and I'll do it my way." He challenged.
"Fine." I sighed.
The other guys were no longer having a pity party, instead they we're back to their old games, like wrestling.
"Are you sure I can't curl your hair?" I heard Mrs. Randle ask.
"No mom." I heard Lithium laugh.
"But haven't gotten to touch your beautiful hair in so long!"
"Ugh fine! But just this once."I couldn't help but laugh a little. Teenage girls.
Minutes later, both Sierra and Lithi came out with Mrs. Randle right behind them. They were both stunningly beautiful. Sierra had on a blue short sleeved flannel shirt and dark grey leggings. Lithi had a white tank top under a dark blue jean jacket with black leggings. Both of their hair was done up in curled ponytails.
For a short moment Lithi's and I's eyes (woah that's confusing) met. She blushed and quickly looked away. She pulled a few loose strands of hair out of her face.
"Ok Lithium stand next to Steve, and Sierra, stand in front of them. I want to get a few pictures of and with my children." Mrs. Randle exclaimed excitedly.
She grabbed a camera and snapped a few pictures of three genuinely smiling teens.
Mrs. Randle looked through the pictures of her children and then handed the camera to me. "Can you take a few more for me please?" She pleaded.
I smiled. "Sure thing, Mrs. Randle."
"Oh honey just call me Laura." She smiled.
"Sure thing." I said again.
I snapped a few pictures of a beautiful family and passed the camera back.
"Beautiful." Laura whispered happily.
Most definitely.
