Dad let his anger out on the family. He was so filled with jealousy that Mendel and Mom got their happy ending, while he suffered through two failed relationships.
It began when Mendel got fed up during an in-home therapy session with Dad. Mendel had tried to calmly explain that even though Dad's behavior was healthy, it was beginning to get out of hand. Dad promptly raised his middle finger - not aware I had been watching from the steps - and screamed at Mendel to "sit and spin."
I later copied his behavior during a baseball game after the opposing pitcher striked me out. I was then kicked off the Little League team for unsportsmanship behavior.
