She got the electricity up when everyone else was asleep.
She had ran up to Pine City and got more of my clothes. She met Dariens brother, and snuck into Sam's house to get us more things. When all of us started to stir, it was twilight.
We all shuffled into the kitchen, where she was cooking.
She hit Sam on the hand with a spoon when he went for something.
"Sit!" She growled. Sam sat next to James on one side, Adam, Darien, and me on the other. She tossed cans of mostly chilled Dr. Pepper to all of us, before sliding bowls of chicken alfredo to us, with a small bowl of watermelon to each of us.
She sat at the head of the table.
"Guys, before we eat I wanna say one thing. We have to work together to stay away from whoever it is is after us. We have to put everything behind us and start fresh. That means every single grudge." She started. Sam grumbled, and she kicked him under the table. He swore under his breath.
"Adam. We were young. We didn't really know what we were doing. I forgive you." She smiled, taking a drink of Mountain Dew.
"James. I shut you out and you didn't deserve it. Same with you Sam. And I'm sorry. Forgive me?" She asked.
"Yesss. Just hurry up and let me eat," Sam moaned.
"Darien, sorry you got drug into this. Jess, I still can't get a hold on my anger. But I will try to forgive you, you should start by forgiving yourself first." She said, holding up her can. We all clinked our cans together, and dug into the meal she made.
She chose to work at night. She slept during the day. I didn't know why until I heard her collapse beside me one night. A few hours later I woke up. My eyes squinted at the clock.
3:05 A.M. it read to me in its florescent red numbers. I looked beside me in its small glow. She had her knees to her chest, and was sipping a bottle of Henry Weinhard's Root Beer.
"Morning." She whispered.
"What's wrong," I whispered back.
"Just another nightmare," she told me, taking another swig.
That's when I realized it wasn't just root beer I smelt. I could smell the cinnamon on her breath.
"Why are you drinking?" I whispered.
Why's it matter to you?" She growled, harsher than I expected.
"I still care," I whispered, taking her hand. She jumped.
"To make the nightmares go away." She whispered to me.
"I thought I was the person you could sleep around?" I whispered.
"Eve-ever sense we went our seperate ways, I haven't been able to sleep," she sniffled, downing a gulp. I sat out.
"Firstly, put the bottle down," I said taking it from her, and setting it on the night stand.
"Secondly, come here," I said, offering her my arms. She crawled towards me, laying her head on my chest.
"I'm still mad at you," She whispered. I sighed."I abandoned you. I'd be mad at me too. He'll I am mad at myself too." I whispered back.
"I'm drunk, and I just want to go home, and.. one other thing." She whispered.
"What other thing?" I asked.
"Nothin," she told me. I could tell she was smirking. I wrapped my hand loosely around her shaggy red ponytail and looked into her eyes. I could see the blue shimmer back, as purple. She let out a tiny gasp.
"Tell me." I growled.
"Can I show you," she whimpered at me.
"Sure," I whispered. She crawled out of my arms, and threw her leg onto the other side of my hip, straddling me.
She took fistfulls of my shirt, and kissed me. And God she had no shame of how greedy she was for it. Fireball and root beer and tears, all mixed with her saliva.
"I hated what you did to me..but God I want you so bad," She growled, kissing me hard.
"I still think you're the best kisser I know," she whispered, kissing me. I ran my finger down her spine, and I felt her body react to mine. She stiffled a moan, kissing me again. She kissed me for a few minutes, before she curled up on my chest and fell asleep.
