Sense I had unlocked mine, I wasn't pushed as hard anymore. Instead I was practicing twice a week, Tuesday's and Friday's. I could probably throw a bomb under the table and the professor wouldn't give me a second glance.
I ended up watching Sam's trials with James, and Emily. We hadn't spoke in two and a half weeks, so she embraced me in a hug.
Her weight had dropped more, but her stomach was tight against her black shirt.
He was put in a simulation. You know that whole rat in a maze, them using their senses to find the end? That's what Sam was doing.
And he thought his parents were after him. Him and his parents..it was a nightmare.
His parents where incredibly controlling, and they hated him. And he hated them. They were abusive. Hateful. Royal pricks, at least what I've heard from Emily. But most of all, they scared him. More than any other possible thing in the world.
He was running for his life.
"Where are you?" His mom's voice roared.
He kept running. And Emily was squirming. She hated his parents. With a passion. The marble maze he was in was impossible, unless he could see through stone.
The tears were streaming down his cheeks. He was almost at a dead end, until he suddenly turned around. He stopped, taking a deep breath. He started running. He burst out the exit, into the room. Into Emily's arms. He was shaking while the professor waltzed in.
"How'd you find the exit?" He asked coldly.
"Saw through the stone,"he growled. He smiled.
"Keep that up you'll be able to melt through it," he smiled devilishly.
"My heads throbbing. Can I go lay down," Sam groaned.
"Yes go," the professor spoke. We walked back to our cell. A week later, James broke his.
He was running. And being chased.
"You need to stop hiding your fear," the professor roared.
"I'm not afraid." He roared back, rolling out of the way of the guard.
He was body slammed into the wall. A knife was promptly put to his throat.
"Just admit it," Emily roared.
"I'm scared,"he whispered. And with that, he vanished.
The guard was thrown across the room. He appeared again.
"Wicked," he smirked, grinning from ear to ear.
Christmas. We hadn't seen her seen her sense James's trial. The professor didn't even show up for meals anymore.
MaryAnne walked into the lunchroom for breakfast, in a hurry.
"You boys need to get her out of here. Now. I don't care how. But immediately."
"Why," I whispered.
"Because if you don't she is going to die down here." MaryAnne hissed back.
The professor waltzed in tiredly.
"Morning boys," he growled.
"What are we doing for dinner?" James asked, inhaling his stack of pancakes.
"What do you want," he said rubbing his eyebrows.
"Glad you asked. I want pineapple and honey glazed ham, smoked turkey, fried chicken strips, kfc mashed potatoes and gravy, pounds of jojos, corn on the cob, strawberry cupcakes with strawberry frosting, birthday cake cookies, double chocolate ice cream, peppermint ice cream, those pop rock Oreos, birthday cake milkshakes, Mountain Dew milkshakes, and Dr. Pepper. Oh yea. And I want my fucking cousin here. Without you. So I can eat with my family," James growled. He disappeared, reappearing with a knife held at the professor.
"Now James," he started.
"Don't now James me, I want my family," he growled.
"Fine," he spoke.
