A day later the professor showed up, clearly irritated.
"You guys need to say your goodbyes. Until you can cooperate how I need you to James and Emily will not be joining you except for formal meals, which I of course shall attend." He smiled, devilishly.
"You can't take me away from them," Emily snarled.
"I can and I will," he said. He pointed a finger at her and motioned towards him. Her body ripped towards him and let her slam into the wall, rendering her unconscious. Sam stood there mortified, and myhands curled to fists
"Pick her up," he told James which he did. His face was dark.
He waved James towards a hallway, all I could do was deathgrip the bars.
Couple minutes later, Roy brought us out.
"Morning boys, training starts today," he said a little sadly.
We followed him to a large white room, kind of like our school gym. He handed us a sandwich upon entering. James was in one of the large chairs in the center, munching away. The other two had our names, Samuel Allen Fleming and Jesse Austin Summers.
Why the full names? I growled in my head. MaryAnne, the person who had drilled Emily with questions walked over to me.
"You'll be training with me hun," she said coolly before stepping closer."I have access to her too. I'll do whatever I can to help her ok?" She whispered and a small smile crawled across my lips. I nodded.
"Anyways, let's go." She told me. I followed. She brought me to a smaller room, with a pool. She led me up to a balcony.
"Jump." She told me. I raised an eyebrow.
"Professers orders." She told me. I shrugged kicking off my sneakers. I pulled my tee shirt over my head before throwing my leg over the guard rail.
"So I just..jump?" I asked.
"Yep." She answered from behind me. I took a deep breath, and threw myself off.
We repeated it tell lunch. My head was spinning and I landed wrong a few times. I limped into the small tiled room, walking over to the large foldout table.
I was shirtless, my jeans soaked and limping. James was covered in bruises, and moved slower. Sam's eyes were bloodshot, and he said his head was pounding. Before we had a chance to talk the professor stalked in angerly.
"Due to her insubordinate nature, she'll be eating alone." He snarled. We didn't push it. We ate the orange chicken in silence.
It was her favorite. And somehow I knew she wasn't getting any of it. And that bugged me.
"Hey uh professor," I called before he walked out. He turned.
"Could I bring a bit of this to training, just so if I get hungry again," I asked, scratching the back of my neck. He sighed, nodding. I walked back in the pool room with my bowl of hot chicken. Well, limped while cradling it for its warmth is a bit better.
"Could you take this to her?" I asked. MaryAnne sighed.
"How'd you know she's on a strict diet?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Yes I can," she said. She disappeared. Not even five minutes later she was back, trying not to smile. We pushed hard until 9, when we ate dinner. I shoved my roll in my lap covering it with my shirt. We ate spaghetti in uncomfortable silence, other than the three of us inhaling it. I handed the roll to MaryAnne after the professor stalked out the door.
Roy escorted me and Sam back to our cell. There was Tylenol for Sam, new jeans for me. I gingerly stripped, slidding on the others. Sam crawled onto his top bunk and I crawled into mine.
"Sam?" I asked after a bit of uncomfortable silence.
"Yea," he answered. I could hear his irritation.
"Why do you hate me?" I asked. He sighed.
"I don't hate you." He whispered.
"But you said-"
"She was right. I was trying to hate you for something I don't even know about." He whispered.
"No Believe me, if I was in your shoes and found out, I'd want to kill me too."
"Jess, what happened?"
