Chapter 20

Peeta and I decided to tell my family first. So we drive up to my old house. Oh gosh, this is going to be awful. Peeta obviously notices.

"Babe, it's ok, calm down." He pulls me into his arms. When I'm in his arms I feel warm and safe.

"Ok" I reply, and take his hand as I ring the doorbell.
Prim answers the door and immediately hugs me.

"Kat I've missed you so much!" She says still not letting go of me.

"And I've missed you little duck" I say kissing her cheek. We enter and sit on the couch. Prim has gone to get my mother. Peeta rests his hand on my thigh rubbing circles with his thumb.

"It's ok" he reassures me and I nod. I see my mother come in and I get even more nervous.

"Katniss" she says

"Mother" I nod.

"So what brings you her Katniss." She is talking very formal which means she really doesn't want me here. And she doesn't even have the decency to greet Peeta.

"Well we have some news that we thought you should know, mother " she waits for me to continue, "Well not to long ago, I found out that, I was... I was... P...P-Pregnant."

I hear prim scream "OMG I'm going to be an aunt!" This makes me smile a bit. My mother sits there, oh gosh.

"Mom say something, please." I beg her.

"Get Out, Get Out! Leave!" She yells and I feel tears running down my face. I take Peeta's hand and exit. I knew that something like this would happen but it still really hurts. Peeta hugs me and kisses the top of my head.

"Shh, it's ok, I'm here for you." He coos. I just hug him tighter not being able to stop the tears from streaming down my face.

We get in the car and drive to his parents house. I wonder if I'm going to be the one to tell them or Peeta is.

"I'll tell them." He says knowing what I was thinking, I swear he can read minds. I nod and thank him. I give him one last peck before ringing the door bell.

His dad opens the door and greets both of us happily, we enter and his dad goes to get his mom.

She comes in and sees me then rolls her eyes. Yeah I'm not very happy to see her either. But at least I don't show it.

"Mom, dad," Peeta begins, "Katniss is... Pregnant and it's my baby." He says getting straight to the point. They both looked shocked but I can see a smile creep on Mr. Mellark's face.

"What! You got that whore pregnant!" Mrs. Mellark yells.

"Don't call her a whore." Peeta yells back.

"Veronica go to the kitchen I'll take care of this." Mr. Mellark tells her. She exits the room.

"I'm not super thrilled about this, but I'm here for both of you." I says and Peeta and I let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you so much dad" Peeta thanks him and I nod in agreement.

We say our goodbyes and leave. Well Clove, Mr. Mellark, and Prim are fine with it. But both of our moms were furious.
